Firefighter/EMT-Basic or Paramedic

The City of Helotes is seeking a qualified individual for the position of FIREFIGHTER/EMT-Basic or Paramedic. Located about 20 minutes northwest of downtown San Antonio on State Highway 16 (Bandera Rd.) at the edge of the Texas Hill Country. The City of Helotes Fire Department serves a population of approximately 10,400 residents. Currently, the department responds to approximately 400 fire calls and 925 EMS calls annually. The Helotes Fire Department employs 1-Primary Rescue Engine, 1-Reserve/Mutual Aid Engine, 1-Class 3 TIFMAS Engine, 1- TIFMAS Tender, 2- Class 6 Brush Trucks, and 2-Frazer ALS/MICU Ambulances. The Central Fire Station was built in 2010 with a number of amenities for personnel who inhabit the building. HFD is an all-hazards response department that provides Fire, EMS, Rescue, Wildland, Investigative, and Fire Prevention services to the community. A number of training opportunities are available to advance candidate's careers that include Swift Water Rescue, Red Card Wildland Firefighting, and a variety of EMS educational opportunities along with state-of-the-art advanced medical field protocols. REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma or GED.
• Certified as at least a Basic Structural Firefighter by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection.
• Certified by the Texas Department of State Health Services as at least a Emergency Medical Technician - Basic.
• Hold a valid Texas Driver's License.
• Must obtain a Texas Class B license within 1 year.
