Job Description
Under the direction of the immediate manager, the Senior Staff Software Engineer, Research Systems will:
Develop new applications with limited guidance.
Will design the architecture of software to fit within and integrate within the existing ecosystem.
Will work with scientists to determine important features of software that will facilitate scientific workflows.
Will work with scientific staff to understand and optimize the scientific workflow to be used with the software developed.
Will work with research and IT partners to ensure a framework for support and training is in place.
Will prepare program-level and user-level documentation.
Organize, prioritize, and coordinate multiple work activities to meet project deadlines. Identifies and documents business processes.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and 6+ years of relevant experience; OR
Masters' degree and 4+ years of relevant experience; OR
PhD and 0+ years of relevant experience
Computer Science, Biological Sciences, structural biology computational chemistry, or a related discipline is preferred.
Some experience in the laboratory or programming languages in a language such as C#
Preferred Qualifications
Experience of programming in C#
Frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques.
Problem Solving: Provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity.
Discretion/ Latitude: Works under limited supervision. Follows established procedures.
Reviews the work of others for soundness of technical judgment, overall adequacy and accuracy.
Impact: Contributes to the completion of milestones associated with specific projects.
Liaison (Internal & External Influence): Primarily senior level internal company contacts. Occasional inter-organizational and outside customer contacts on routine matters.
An ability to manage, develop, and improve processes and operations with software.
