About the Opportunity
JOB SUMMARY
The Assistant Coach of Men's Ice Hockey will assist in the operation of a highly competitive Division I Men's Hockey program, assisting in all recruiting activities, recruitment of prospective student-athletes, practice and game preparation and coaching, relationship building with student-athletes; and academic preparation for success of student-athletes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Thorough knowledge of recruiting practices and NCAA regulations. Successful experience in a Division I ice hockey program with the ability to identify highly competitive student-athletes who will represent the institution athletically and academically. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated experience working effectively with students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Knowledge and skills required for this position are typically acquired through the completion of a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) with two years of related experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
1) Assist with practice preparation, scout opposing team, plan game strategies and coach from the bench during games.
2) Assists with all recruiting activities for the hockey program.
3) Encourages student-athletes to set and achieve academic goals. Utilizes academic progress reports and works closely with team advisors.
