JOB SUMMARY:

We're seeking a dedicated Career and Transition Specialist to join our IRSC Project STAGE team. Project STAGE staff work with students who have documented intellectual disabilities and have the motivation to attend college to earn occupational certificates and achieve employment. As a vital member of Project STAGE, you will guide students in identifying suitable employment opportunities and work accommodations. Your role involves helping students transition to the college environment and independent living, while preparing students for internships and job placements after graduation, fostering their professional growth. Collaborating with Project STAGE staff, you will contribute to the production of informative newsletters, engaging in discussions with staff, parents, and participating in regular staff meetings. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Build connections between IRSC Project STAGE and community advocacy groups.

• Network with potential employers to aid in placement of students in internships and employment opportunities.

• Visit employers throughout Martin, St Lucie, Indian River and Okeechobee counties regarding Project STAGE students and recruiting potential employers.

• Counsel students in adjusting to the college environment. Working with the instructional coordinators, instruct and coach students on social, academic, study and employability skills.

• Foster students independent living skills through collaborative lesson planning with the instructional coordinators and individual student coaching.

• Work with applicable community organizations and non-profits to identify student needs and provide additional student and family support as needed.

• Instruct students at all levels of the program in employability skills, and help them identify appropriate employment options within their program of study.

• Prepare students for internships and job placements.

• Facilitate internship and job placement of current students and graduates.
