We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our Infrastructure team! You will be responsible for delivering mission critical infrastructure and ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance and security.  Acting as a technical lead and mentor for the team while overseeing and creating patterns and behaviors that lead to more reliable and available systems.

The role / responsibilities: 

  • Design, develop, and deploy modular cloud-based systems
  • Develop and maintain cloud solutions in accordance with best practices
  • Ensure efficient functioning of data storage and process functions in accordance with company security policies and best practices in cloud security
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve infrastructure vulnerabilities and application deployment issues
  • Regularly review existing systems and make recommendations for improvements

Technical Skills:

  • Coding - being able to build tools and automation, and write good code (logical, maintainable, well-tested, etc)
    • Python preferred
    • Testing Knowledgeable - Understands unit, integration, and functional tests and leverages them
  • Leverages Infrastructure as Code
  • Deep knowledge of Linux systems administration (CentOS, RedHat, Amazon Linux)
  • AWS networking and Compute - Resiliency and cost effectiveness
    • EKS Cluster Deployment and Management
    • EC2 Deployment and Management
    • WAN Technologies - Transit Gateways, Direct Connect
    • VPC's (and all the implications that go with it, stuff like cross-AZ routing, inter- and intra-VPC routing, etc)
    • DNS in AWS - what you can do with R53 zones (like cross-account sharing, split horizons, etc), R53 DNS firewall, inbound and outbound resolvers, how VPCE/Privatelink interacts with DNS
    • VPCE/PrivateLink - how it works, what’s involved in both consuming and offering a VPCE Service
    • Load balancing - different LB types, tradeoffs and when to use which, how they interact with applications (headers, PPv2, etc)
  • General AWS - What they do, what you can do with them, how to monitor them
    • Step Functions, EBS, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, RDS, DDB, Cloudwatch, EventBridge, etc.
