The Opportunity:

CACI is looking for an Uncrewed Systems (UxS) Safety and Standardization Specialist to join the DTRA DA team to support DTRA’s Contingency Operations (CO) Department by providing administrative and operational support to their mission to Counter-Weapons of Mass Destruction (C-WMD) by providing direct administrative and technical support for the safety and standardization of the Department’s UxS program. As required, you must be prepared to support the DTRA client to provide administrative and operational UxS support to their global C-WMD mission with dedicated support to each of the Combatant Commands (CCMDs), Theater Special Operations Commands (TSOCs), and Technical Support Groups (TSGs).As the UxS Safety and Standardization Specialist, you will work alongside US Department of Defense (DoD) forces and other government agencies to provide mission focused support to UxS programmatic oversight in support of the development, sustainment, and employment of UxS supporting Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Operations. This includes being able to work as an individual or a member of a small team across all aspects of air, ground and maritime environments. It is critical to develop and foster a culture of innovation and creative ideas to solve complex problems, both technically and procedurally. It is crucial that you must be able to be adaptable and work constructively with a tactically and technically diverse team.

Role:

You will work as part of a multifunctional team of subject matter experts to assist DoD customers with coordinating across DTRA, outside DoD agencies and organizations, as well as industry leaders to unsure UxS programmatic compliance, enable uninterrupted C-WMD/CBRN detection operations and exercises, and support the procurement process for new technologies. You will work closely with members of the CO team to develop, sustain, and execute the UxS safety and standardization program IAW with DTRA, Airforce Special Operations Command (AFSOC), and DoD-wide policies and regulations. You will provide expertise to the CO team in the development of training, operational safety requirements, and risk management for UxS and associated CBRN sensors ISO CBRN exercises and operations.

Responsibilities: 

Your overall primary job responsibility consists of coordinating with DTRA, AFSOC, Special Operations Command (SOCOM), the Office of Under Secretary of Defense (OUSD), and other DoD, government, or industry agencies as required to enable the employment of UxS in support of C-WMD/CBRN efforts , as well as:

• Provide subject matter expertise in the development and implementation of the safety and standardization program, risk assessments and mitigation plans, development of UxS training, lessons learned and best practices, operational procedures, checklists, and the management of the UxS program.
• Maintain up-to-date understanding of current and relevant policies, regulations, and requirements which guide the development, implementation, and execution of the safety and standardization aspect of the DTRA-OI-CO UxS program.
• Liaise with DTRA OI-CO in coordination and collaboration efforts throughout the department, across all DTRA Directorates, AFSOC, Special Operations Command (SOCOM), the Office of Under Secretary of Defense (OUSD), and other DoD, government, or industry agencies as required.
• Liaise with DTRA OI-CO in coordination with the OUSD UAS Exception-To-Policy Board to develop and attain OUSD A&S and DoD CIO approvals for DTRA UxS operations, testing, and evaluations.
• Liaise with DTRA OI-CO in coordination with AFSOC Unmanned Systems Branch (A3OU) to attain required sUAS certificates of airspace authorization (COAs), airworthiness safety releases (ASRs), other administrative requirements, and to support effective incident and accident reporting.
• Liaise with DTRA OI-CO to coordinate with local government and civilian organizations, and across DTRA OI-CO, to establish and maintain viable UxS training locations with required airspace and ground authority approvals, range safety, and risk management procedures.
• Maintain situational understanding of current and future exercise events and operations to advise, assist and support DTRA-OI-CO throughout the approval process for execution.
