Role Summary
The Senior Corporate Counsel is the subject matter expert and thought leader in commercial legal matters for the Alaska Air Group (AAG) companies. As an individual contributor, this role provides advice and counseling for Supply Chain Management, Finance, Treasury, Corporate Real Estate Airport Operations, Marketing, IT, Flight Operations and Maintenance & Engineering for Alaska Airlines (AS), Hawaiian Airlines (HA), and Horizon Air (QX) in a shared service environment.
Key Duties
- Supports multiple business units, including Supply Chain Management Finance, Treasury, Corporate Real Estate, Airport Operations, Marketing, IT, Flight Operations and Maintenance and Engineering and involves a variety of transaction and counseling work in these and other areas, including:
- Aircraft and engine maintenance agreements,
- Airport and ground operations agreements,
- Real property and facility use transactions,
- Goods and services procurement contracts and RFPs,
- Software licensing agreements,
- Non-disclosure agreements,
- Data privacy and data security agreements,
- SEC filing support,
- Other commercial agreements, including professional services.
- Collaborates with other in-house lawyers to establish common expectations with law firms and realize economies.
- Keep Legal division colleagues and other stakeholders abreast of legal developments and exposure.
- Manages outside legal counsel, including reviewing legal costs.
Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills
Required
- 8 years of experience of relevant law firm, government, or in-house experience in drafting and negotiating commercial agreements.
- Juris Doctor degree from leading law school, with strong personal academic credentials.
- Membership in good standing in at least one state bar, preferably Washington State.
- Experience a law firm, in-house, or government attorney role.
- Proficient in understanding and knowing how to apply rules of privilege in a corporate setting.
- Ability to think quickly on your feet, convey grace under pressure, find practical solutions and simultaneously manage workloads, multiple clients demands and shifting priorities in a fast-paced, highly detailed environment where flexibility is key.
- Excellent problem-solving capabilities, judgment, written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to collaborate with colleagues as needed regarding issues outside of primary practice area.
- Ability to work independently, manage time and multi-task.
- Demonstrate high standards for professional integrity.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum age of 18.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred
- Experience with airline industry agreements.
- Experience working with clients in the aviation industry or other highly regulated, technical or mechanical industries.
- Demonstrated proficiency in working closely with and advising senior executives of an organization.

Starting Rate
Salary Range
$173,350 - $268,700 / yearTotal Target Compensation Range (incl. bonus & equity)
$211,469.50 - $327,814Bonus
Salary Details
The pay range and total target compensation package listed above is the expected pay offered for this position at the start of employment. Your pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, your relevant experience/level, experience level, and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Hawaiian/Horizon employees. Alaska/Hawaiian/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.
Note: We don't typically hire at the top of the range.
