Location
This position is a full-time, hybrid-based position which will be located in our Louisville, Colorado office.
Position Summary
The newly hired senior engineer will be responsible for developing and leading the design and implementation of our control architecture.
Responsibilities

- Lead and collaborate with scientists and engineers to deliver high-performance real time embedded systems
- Successfully plan, direct, and organize area work activities; effectively delegate and assign work appropriate to team member’s level of experience and expertise
- Conducts weekly and quarterly meetings to support, mentor and coach team member(s)
- RF synthesis for laser modulation but will have opportunities to work on other novel beam steering technologies, magnetic field generation, and high-bandwidth servos
- Deploy high test coverage and fully leverage our CI pipelines and hardware test beds to have confidence that your designs will work as designed
- Work with software engineers to integrate systems into the larger quantum computer framework
- Key contributor towards developing control system architectures for future quantum computing projects
- Effectively communicate status of work activities and projects; identify any issues and offer possible solutions that will ensure work moves forward
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Bachelors or master’s degree in Embedded Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science
- A minimum of six years of relevant experience including prior work in a Linux environment preferably in a more senior role and are at least proficient in Python
- Highly proficient in at least one of the two following areas, proficiency in both areas preferred:
-Embedded system development in Rust. If you have relevant expertise but with C/C++, you may still be successful in this role if you have interest in Rust and have some idea of how Rust can be used to rapidly develop safe and performant systems
-FPGA development in any HDL with experience in RF synthesis. Whether you like to work in Verilog/VHDL or bleeding-edge languages like SpinalHDL, nMigen, or MyHDL - Prior experience with high-performance control systems; strongly desired experience includes Xilinx Zync Ultrascale / RFSoC, MicroTCA, driver or peripheral development for high-throughput interfaces (PCIe, 10 GbE)
- Demonstrated ability to effectively share and communicate information with technical and non-technical staff
- Demonstrated ability to learn new and complex topics quickly
- Demonstrated ability to work and communicate with all levels of an organization in English; Professional-level communication skills, including verbal, written, and presentation skills
- Demonstrated ability to work comfortably in a highly collaborative, cross-functional, team-oriented, and matrixed environment
- Desire and demonstrated ability to thrive and adapt and produce results in a fluid, dynamic, and fast-paced environment
- Passion for solving complex problems and challenges in a highly technical and scientific environment
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to effectively prioritize work activities and tasks
- Ability to travel domestically and (potentially) internationally up to 10%
