Job Summary
Responsible for overseeing project controls, project cost management, and the development of performance metrics for all projects in the assigned department. Provides leadership in the assessment and audit of project management and project controls performance. In addition, this position will also support capital work, associated O&M activities, and provide metrics and reporting to departmental leadership that will be used in the ongoing management. Provide leadership, direction, training, coordination, and effective communication to support all project phases with a safe, efficient, economical, risk-balanced approach to achieve short and long range goals and to obtain maximum customer satisfaction. Develop relationships and effectively communicate with all stakeholders including internal customers, external customers, team members, suppliers, contractors, vendors, and industry peers. This position is responsible for aligning projects with approved quality control and quality assurance review, including adherence to project processes and controls.Job Description
What you’ll do:
- Direct and oversee a team of project schedulers to support the successful project completion including but not limited to: Engineering, Siting, Outreach, Right of Way, Permitting, Procurement, Construction and Testing and Commissioning for a $1B annual and $5B 5-year Transmission and Distribution Station Portfolio in the Ohio Region of AEP.
- Lead employees while promoting safety, culture, and business initiatives.
- Develop a performance measurement system, define expectations, and align individual performance with business goals.
- Enhance training and competencies of project controls staff.
- Oversee the preparation of project schedule reports, validate and analyze progress while managing changes and risks.
- Lead the development and coordination of schedules and communicate updates with stakeholders.
- Supervise team to ensure data integrity and conduct assessments and audits as needed.
- Collaborate with project management teams to improve processes, provide training, and share best practices.
- Ensure contractual project controls align with execution requirements and represent the department in contractor kick-off meetings.
- Champion the administration of AEP project management standards and assist in project management according to those standards.
What we’re looking for:
Project Controls Manager SG10
Education:
- Qualified degrees must be in a related field from an accredited university or college and could include Accounting, Business, Construction Management, Engineering, Technology, Project Management, Mathematics, Operations Research, Applied Statistics, Economics, or Data Science.
- Associates degree in applicable field with twelve (12) years' qualified experience; OR,
- Bachelor's degree in applicable field with ten (10) years' qualified experience.
For nuclear facilities only:
- Educational requirement for advancement can be fulfilled by qualified experience in the Navy Nuclear Program in addition to the maximum years of experience as noted.
Experience:
- A minimum of eight (8) years of experience is required in one or more of the following areas: construction field experience, safety, technology, contracting, project controls, project management, engineering, process improvement, and/or comparable external experience. Minimum of two (2) years supervisory or leadership experience is required.
License/Certifications:
- Project Management Professional (PMP) and/or other project controls certifications preferred but not required.
In addition:
- Detailed working knowledge of Primavera (P6) preferred.
