The Process Catalysis and Adsorbents Scale-up group in Beachwood, Ohio, is dedicated to the research, development, and scale-up of innovative catalysts and adsorbents for the chemical and energy industries.
As a Senior Chemist, you will facilitate collaboration between the Research, Manufacturing, and Commercial teams. This role is ideal for a highly motivated scientist who will lead projects focused on process catalyst R&D in both laboratory and pilot plant settings, with a particular emphasis on Custom Catalysts developed exclusively for third-party clients.
As a Senior Chemist I, you create chemistry by...
- Driving the development of new catalyst formulations, enhancing existing recipes, and applying innovative manufacturing technologies while collaborating with technicians in laboratory, pilot plant, and plant trial activities.
- Serving as a technical resource for the North American catalyst production community as well as developing creative solutions for Base Metal, Precious Metal, or Zeolite-based products.
- Collaborating with scientists, engineers, manufacturing associates, and toll manufacturers to ensure seamless project execution.
- Interfacing with business colleagues and customers to align project goals and expectations.
- Overseeing multiple projects concurrently while managing diverse tasks with a high level of autonomy in a dynamic laboratory and pilot plant setting.
- Demonstrating exceptional laboratory and analytical skills, including meticulous record-keeping and expertise in the safe handling of chemicals, as well as preparing detailed work instructions and SOPs.

If you...
- Hold a PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Science with 3 years of experience in catalyst research or manufacturing; a Master's degree with 5 years of experience; or a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Science with 8+ years of related experience in Catalyst development.
- Possess a comprehensive understanding of research principles and techniques, with a proven ability to work across various fields; familiarity with heterogeneous catalysis formulations and manufacturing is preferred.
- Have strong written and verbal communication, data analysis, organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate strong digitalization skills.
- Are proficient with the Microsoft platform.
- Possess a solid background in statistical tools such as Design of Experiments (DOE), ANOVA, and Lean Six Sigma. (preferred)
