Thalle is currently seeking an experienced and motivated candidate to fill a Construction Project Manager position on a 6 Year, $375M (+) USACE Lock and Dam project located on scenic Kentucky Lake in Grand Rivers, Kentucky. This is a full-time on-site position reporting directly to the Project Manager to perform management duties to support the site Operations Team.  This role will interact with a variety of staff at all levels and uphold a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.

Job Title:  Estimator/Project Manager

Salary:  Competitive compensation package.

Overview:

This position combines the responsibilities of both a Project Estimator and a Project Manager, making it a critical role within Thalle Construction Company. The Project Estimator/Project Manager is accountable for the financial performance and overall management direction of one or more multi-million-dollar heavy civil construction projects. This includes overseeing the planning, estimating, and implementation processes while ensuring project success from inception through completion. The role requires strong leadership, technical knowledge, and the ability to manage complex project demands.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Project Management Duties

  • Project Planning & Execution: Lead and formulate civil construction projects according to engineering standards and project requirements.
  • Quality Control: Ensure overall project quality, including compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer contract requirements.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Create and maintain all project-related documentation, prepare analytical reports, and manage financial projections.
  • Collaboration & Issue Resolution: Work closely with field management to resolve issues between project plans and site execution. Approve equipment or personnel changes and requisitions.
  • Team Management: Plan, organize, and assign project staff. Communicate roles, responsibilities, and expectations to the project team. Conduct weekly project meetings for scheduling and costing review.
  • Financial Management: Develop and manage project budgets, maintain accurate cost and income projections, and take corrective actions when needed.
  • Contract & Communication: Act as Thalle’s representative with clients, ensuring timely communication, change order documentation, and accurate recordkeeping.
  • Project Scheduling: Oversee the development and updating of project schedules, including key milestones and critical path tracking.
  • Safety Management: Enforce adherence to company safety policies and protocols, ensuring an Incident and Injury-Free culture on-site.

Estimating Duties

  •  Cost Estimation & Analysis: Lead efforts in preparing comprehensive cost estimates by analyzing project scope, performing take-offs, and compiling data for material, labor, and equipment costs.
  • Bid Strategy & Preparation: Develop bid strategies, attend client pre-bid meetings, conduct site visits, and prepare detailed project estimates.
  • Estimating Tools & Systems: Maintain and utilize company-approved costing tools and databases, ensuring accurate estimates that align with project objectives.
