Sr Backup Engineer

What success looks like in this role:

Key Responsibilities: 

• Design, Implementation and Administration of Backup environments running on Various enterprise backup solutions such as CommVault, Netbackup, Rubrik, Veeam, Druva etc. 

• Technology Stack Automation 

• Backup Configuration & administration of Cloud native workloads (AWS, Azure etc.) 

• Troubleshoot deep technical issues in Backup environments running on the Mentioned Tools & Technologies. Drive them to Resolution. 

• Demonstrate a high degree of creativity in performing tasks by identifying, proposing and implementing streamlining activities to reshape technology and processes. 

• Conduct Periodic Performance Analysis and fine tune the Overall Backup Performance. 

• Propose and Implement Backup Improvement Initiatives to enhance backup Performance & Backup Success Rates. 

• Handle Technical Escalations from Level 1 and 2 support teams. 

• Generate and analyze various Backup Reports.  

• Conduct backup assessments and audits. Report findings, propose plans, and implement strategies to address gaps. 

• Execute and follow Incident management, Change Management and Problem management in line with current ITIL Standards. 

• Engage with vendors on deep technical issues and work with them through the resolution. 

• Identify recurring issues and create problem incidents to find the root cause of the event. 

• Track Backup Systems’ Capacity and Propose Appropriate Measures proactively. 

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of backup configurations, procedures, and policies. 

• Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, providing updates on key accomplishments and any challenges or issues.   

• Work with other cross-functional teams to provide seamless Service Delivery. 

• Participate in DR exercises. 

• Work in rotational shifts (24X7 coverage model) and provide on call support as required. 

• Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and automation, driving efficiency and effectiveness within the organization. 

• Familiarize yourself with automation tools and scripting languages to streamline routine tasks and improve efficiency. 

• Migration of Backup Systems from Older to Newer Generation based systems 

• Communicate project status, client updates etc. 

• Provide weekly and Monthly status reports on projects  

• Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to recommend innovative solutions.

Required Skills and qualifications 

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field; equivalent experience accepted. 

• 10+ years of experience in enterprise backup administration.
