Position Summary

The Digital Communications Associate is responsible for the delivery of high quality content across NORD’s social media channels. The Digital Communications Associate will cultivate the online presence of NORD across an array of targeted audiences, develop growth and engagement strategies and manage high quality campaigns across multiple social platforms. This is a great opportunity for a marketing and communications professional with superior writing and social media outreach skills and an interest in supporting those impacted by rare diseases.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Steward NORD’s editorial and brand standards, ensuring brand consistency and integrity of the communications across social channels.

Create content, schedules, and strategies to benchmark and evolve NORD’s social media, ensuring that content is directed at targeted audiences to grow brand awareness, to inform, and to drive action.  

Provide recommendations regarding testing, audience targeting, creative direction, and platforms/tools.

Analyze results and proactively report on performance and adjust strategy, budgets, and timelines accordingly.

Assist with social media, social listening and partner engagement as directed by NORD’s social media strategy, maintaining excellent relationships with our community across platforms, and creating social media toolkits for major events and campaigns.

Support email and blog communications including monthly and quarterly newsletters, event promotion, and contributing to and enhancing NORD’s storytelling.

Stay updated and provide guidance on digital platforms and best practices, including TikTok, YouTube, etc.

Perform other duties and functions as assigned.


Education/Experience                                     

Bachelor’s Degree required in Journalism, Communications, English, or related field preferred but not required. 

Minimum of 3 years of experience in a social media or digital marketing role is required.

A strong interest in NORD’s mission and a desire to be part of improving the lives of those impacted by rare diseases.

Non-profit/healthcare advocacy background a plus.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of social media and email marketing best practices and tools.

Excellent oral and written communication skills; creativity to tailor a message for different audiences and make it stand out.

Effective interpersonal skills and strong customer-service focus.

Effective analytical, problem-solving/brainstorming skills with strong attention to detail.

Project management skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and simultaneous projects.

Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office and WordPress.

 

Working Conditions

This position may be fully telecommuting or hybrid to any of NORD’s offices (Washington, DC, Danbury, CT or Quincy, MA). Occasional travel is required.
