We are hiring! AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Project Director Energy - International Assignment, Waste Services. This position is a remote U.S. position and requires international assignment at our Chalk River office, located in Canada. (Relocation to Canada is not required and housing provided in Canada; may travel back to the U.S. every 2-3 months for one week, depending on business needs.)

How will you contribute to the team?
Oversees the operations and business activities for the Solid and Liquid Waste Services at the Chalk River Laboratories (CRL) Site.
Improves overall delivery of contractual commitments to AECL, developing and implementing strategic waste operations plans, and oversight of technical services to support waste generators including waste characterization, identifying solutions to challenging waste streams and transportation of waste for consolidation at the CRL site.
ERM is actively pursuing opportunities to innovate and improve support to the decommissioning and environmental remediation programs across all CNL sites and as part of this the GM is accountable for developing and delivering strategic waste operations initiatives.
Provides leadership to the Waste Services management team, ensuring key initiatives are completed and effective, as well as communication of business goals to the management team, staff, AECL and other stakeholders.
Draws on a high level of operational expertise, the GM will provide advice to CNL/ERM executive on waste management and the application of international best practice to radioactive waste management within Canada.
Supports in developing and maintaining credible project schedules and budgets for subDBAs 1.1.3 Stored Liquid Waste Management and 1.1.4 CRL Legacy Waste Processing and Storage.
Responsible for managing and delivering the technical programs that are essential to delivering CNL’s ability to provide safe and sustainable radioactive waste management at the CRL site.
Supports identifying future operational requirements for any radioactive waste processing or storage facilities, including establishing design, operational flow models, and safety cases (demonstrating the adequacy of nuclear safety).
Demonstrates strong leadership and management skills which will lead the growth of a strong waste operations organization.
Anticipates future commercial opportunities, identifying, developing and cultivating external demand and coordinating ERM’s commercial efforts.
Meets all CNL corporate targets for safety and financial performance.
Develops and implement CNL policies and procedures necessary to support ongoing work.
Ensures compliance with the CNL contract specifications which for the CRL site are specifically captured under the Site Operating Contract Agreement.
Understands, complies, and holds all employees accountable to the environmental health and safety policies and procedures and provide or attend training as required.
Manages and leads through a period of substantial growth in the organization and ensure effective recruitment and integration into the organization of a significant operations team.

What will you contribute?
Requires an Engineering or Science Degree (or equivalent in education/training and experience), coupled with at least 15-20 years of significant and varied experience in the safe management of radioactive waste and the technical and regulatory issues associated with its transport, processing and storage.
Extensive grounding in the application of project management principles and practices at the senior project/portfolio manager level including an established track record for delivering large projects on-time and on-budget.
Detailed understanding, obtained through extensive experience, of the operations and technical demands faced in highly regulated industry sectors such as the nuclear, oil and gas, or mining sectors.
