Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM) Faculty - Part-time, 0.50 FTE

ABOUT THE POSITION 

The Department of Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine at the Illinois College of Osteopathic Medicine (IllinoisCOM) is seeking a dynamic physician educator and leader to serve as founding faculty in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine. This part-time position is open to candidates at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Full Professor.  Academic rank to be determined by The Chicago School & Illinois COM academic rank policy.

The ideal candidate will be a dedicated educator, accomplished clinician, and innovative leader with expertise in Osteopathic Principles and Practice within a broad range of specialties including ONMM, Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Sports Medicine and Surgical specialties. The successful candidate will help oversee the delivery of the Patient Centered Osteopathic Practice (PCOP) curriculum which will incorporate all the physical skills and tasks related to being an Osteopathic physician including OMT. The successful candidate will also support faculty recruitment and development, and foster a collaborative, student-focused environment that aligns with the mission and values of the IllinoisCOM and The Chicago School.

The University is building the Illinois College of Osteopathic Medicine, or the IllinoisCOM (pre-accreditation status), anticipated to open for its first class of students in summer 2026 with a Mission to train exceptional physicians to leverage the interconnection of physical and mental health to provide compassionate, patient-centered care of the highest quality. 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

Leadership & Administration

• Provide leadership and supervision for preclinical osteopathic medical students within IllinoisCOM.

• Participate as faculty in the first and second year PCOP courses.

• Lead PCOP lecture and lab didactic sessions as assigned and mutually agreed upon with the OMM Department Chair

• Assist with curriculum development and assessment in the PCOP course as needed.

Teaching, Curriculum Development, & Student Success

• Contribute to the development and delivery of an innovative, interdisciplinary PCOP curriculum.

• Teach medical students using evidence-based instructional methods, including case-based learning and OMM lab supervision and table training

• Support student coaching, mentoring, and professional development in academic and clinical settings.

• Collaborate with other faculty and clinical educators to integrate PCOP content across the curriculum.

Service

• Represent the College in professional organizations and events.

• Assist where needed with student recruitment, including interviews, and community outreach efforts.

• Serve as a member of the Illinois COM committees as mutually agreed upon with the OMM Chair.

• Advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion in medical education.

• Engage in clinical practice (strongly encouraged).

Research & Scholarly Activity

• Promote a culture of research and scholarship.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• DO with board certification  or eligibility in related specialty.

• At least 3 years of experience in medical education (includes participation during residency training for new graduates and early career physicians)

• Demonstrated excellence in teaching, curriculum development, and student mentorship.

• Strong supervisory, interpersonal communication (verbal and written), and problem-solving skills.

• Motivation to contribute to the growth and development of the OMM department and overall university.
