MAINTENANCE AND PROPERTY SUPERVISOR

The Salvation Army is seeking a dedicated Maintenance and Property Supervisor to join our team in Des Moines. In this role, you'll ensure our facilities operate smoothly while supporting our mission to meet human needs without discrimination.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

As our Maintenance and Property Supervisor, you'll keep our facilities running efficiently by:

Maintenance Leadership

• Perform and coordinate repairs across electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and painting systems
• Establish preventative maintenance programs that extend equipment life
• Train and supervise maintenance staff, including work therapy beneficiaries
• Implement and manage a work order system to track completion and quality

Property Management

• Conduct regular site inspections to identify improvement opportunities
• Solicit and supervise third-party contractors for maintenance and repair projects
• Maintain comprehensive property records and databases
• Monitor facilities for OSHA and TSA Property Guidelines compliance
• Assist with lease development, negotiation, and management
• Identify cost-saving and efficiency opportunities

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Experience & Skills

• 4+ years of maintenance/property management experience
• Staff management experience (preferred)
• Extensive knowledge of building systems (plumbing, electrical, HVAC)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent planning and supervisory skills
• Intermediate computer proficiency (Microsoft Office Suite)
• Valid driver's license

Physical Requirements

• Ability to regularly lift/move up to 50 pounds
• Occasionally team lift up to 100 pounds
• Standing, walking, and using hands frequently
• Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch as needed

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Combination of office, warehouse, residential, and retail store settings
• Indoor and outdoor work with possible temperature fluctuations
• May require flexible scheduling including early/late shifts and some weekends
• Travel to various TSA properties
• Full-time exempt position with availability for property emergencies
