This position is for an on-site Continuous Improvement Engineer Co-Op who will join the CORE team at the Collins Aerospace Melbourne, FL facility for the Spring / Summer 2025 session.  Being part of our CORE team will allow you to identify and remove waste in our processes, optimize resources, and empower employees to make changes that improve the company's bottom line.

Immerse yourself in a full-time, Monday-Friday co-op session, that will run May/June- December (including the Fall semester; it is expected students will take a semester off from coursework to fully engage with this working mentorship opportunity).

What You Will Do:

  • Co-facilitate events/activities to deliver tailored value to our customers and positively affect KPI.
  • Identify drivers of cost and propose alternative solutions for cost reductions.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and projects using the CORE methodology
  • Support implementation of shop floor management strategy including but not limited to Visual Management, Cell Design, Material Flow
  • Act as a culture champion and change agent
  • On site support

What You Will Learn:

  • Opportunity to learn CORE methodology and being certified as CORE Apprentice
  • Being able to learn and support site wide manufacturing / logistics processes
  • Being exposed to different levels of leadership when supporting CORE engagements / projects

  • Knowledge of principles and techniques commonly used in electronics / lean manufacturing
  • Proficient knowledge using Microsoft Office products
