About the Role
The Paralegal role involves working closely with legal support staff, operations, and attorneys. Paralegals will handle a wide range of immigration inquiries, prepare immigration court defense strategies, and conduct final reviews before escalating matters to attorneys. The Paralegal will maintain legal files and coordinates correspondence
Your Key Contributions
1. Understand requirements and processes for many law firm practices and types of cases including but not limited to VAWA, T-Visa, U-visa, I-589, EOIR 42-B, and Consular Processing cases.
2. Evaluate and handle responses to client escalations and help identify how to move the case forward or improve the process.
3. Process immigration court-related non- electronic filings to U.S. Immigration Courts across the country.
4. Under the supervision of an attorney, help prepare legal training, templates, or scripts for operational teams.
5. Partner with operational teams to provide strategic insight and additional thoughts on the case process and legal workflows that improve the process.
6. Upon request and where appropriate, help handle overflow attorney tasks such as reviewing intake notes.
7. Perform legal and factual research at the request of an attorney.
8. Help develop and implement efficient workflows for filings, ensuring compliance with legal standards and deadlines.
9. Analyze and prepare case documents.
10. Review FBI background check requests, review state police clearance records and review FOIA records.
11. Monitor case deadlines and filing requirements to ensure compliance with court rules, USCIS regulations, and firm policies.
12. Communicate with clients to gather documentation, provide status updates, and clarify case requirements under attorney supervision.
13. Organize supporting evidence including affidavits, records, and supporting documentation for case filings.
14. Draft petitions, legal forms, correspondence, and supporting documentation for attorney review.
15. Review intake, initial research and interview notes to develop legal strategies for attorney review
16. Review and adjust case flow in response to immigration judges’ orders
17. Conduct thorough reviews of full court case files prior to preparing our clients for court appearances
18. Prepare clients for individual hearings, ensuring they understand their case and what to expect
What Makes You a Great Fit
1. High School diploma or equivalent experience
2. 3-6+ year relevant paralegal/legal support experience with demonstrated ability to manage complex case workflows, coordinate across functions, and resolve escalations.
3. Proficient with Microsoft Office and related legal/ops tools (e.g., Dropbox, SharePoint, CRM).
4. Possesses excellent English interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
5. Enhances efficiency, quality, and on-time filings; helps reduce errors/risks through improved workflows and escalation handling.
6. Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
7. Demonstrated ability to improve processes/workflows, prepare training/templates, and collaborate with operations.
8. Manages moderately complex casework across multiple immigration categories; coordinates with attorneys and operations to maintain workflow continuity and compliance.
