Your Next Opportunity awaits you! The Medical ICU is a 28-bed adult ICU that provides comprehensive interdisciplinary care to critically ill patients. Nurse to patient ratios are based on acuity but are typically 1:2 and function within a team environment. The unit employs over 120 nurses with over 750 years of combined experience. Our team cares for the adult patient who needs critical care nursing expertise and the critical care monitoring the MICU provides. We care for patients with a variety of illnesses and diseases that involve the lungs, liver, kidneys, and other unique viruses. Many patients have long-term chronic diseases and require the specialized care of the medical critical care RN. Many of these illnesses are life-ending and the interdisciplinary team supports the patient and the family during this difficult time. Knowledge of ventilators, vasopressors, and intravascular monitoring is needed or will be taught to the novice ICU clinician in a team-focused, patient-centric environment. Apply Today!
Performs a variety of patient care and administrative support functions under the supervision of a Medical Center Registered Nurse (RN) in an inpatient or outpatient setting.
Assists patients with personal care as needed for optimal recovery during hospitalization.
Performs basic nursing skills as delegated by an RN and in accordance with policy and procedure to promote patient health and wellness.
Provides for a safe environment and safe delivery of care.
Performs administrative support functions.
Maintains necessary skills and competencies.
In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
CERTIFIED NURSE ASSISTANT
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent.
Experience: No experience required. Relevant experience preferred.
Licensure: Certified Nursing Aide certification (CNA) through the Virginia Board of Nursing. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
Range: $15.37 - $23.82
NURSE ASSISTANT
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent. Must have completed a state-approved Nurse Aide education program or have completed the Fundamentals of Nursing course as a student nurse.
Experience: No experience required.
Licensure: Obtains Certification as Nurse Aide (CNA) in the Commonwealth of Virginia within 4 months of hire or is a student nurse who has successfully completed the Fundamentals of Nursing course. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
Range: $15.00 - $20.34
PATIENT CARE TECHNICIAN MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent
Experience: No experience required
Licensure: American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS Certification required.
- Certified to practice as a Nurse Aide in the Commonwealth of Virginia and must meet one of the following criteria (required):
(1) Successful completion of the UVa PCT Education Program OR Successful completion of another PCT Education Program that has been approved by NPDS.
(2) Documented proof of at least 1 year of recent (within past 2 years) experience in a similar PCT role from an outside institution. Candidate must successfully complete a written exam and must successfully demonstrate clinical skills during 6 month probationary period.
(3) Passage of a nationally recognized and accredited PCT Certification exam. (Example - National Healthcareer Association - C-PCT). Present Certificate as verification.
- OR must meet one of the following criteria (required):
(1) Currently enrolled student nurses who have successfully completed the Medical/Surgical Clinical Experience and Didactic are exempt from the Certified Nurse Aide requirement.
(2) EMT or above certification. Candidate will complete the UVA PCT Course within 6-month probationary period.
(3) Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
Range: $15.37 -$23.82
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Job requires frequently bending/stooping and driving (Home Health Aide only). Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 – 50lbs and > 100lbs (Home Health Aide only). May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
