Job Title: Track & Field Instructor
Reports To: Facility Manager
Employment Type: Part-Time / Non-Exempt
SUMMARY: With passion and dedication to excellence the ComEd Recreational Center Track & Field Instructor will instruct, lead, and coach patrons, providing instruction methods that both inspire and guide each and every student regardless of age, experience, or knowledge of a wide variety of different recreational activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Instructs scheduled track and field classes, beginning and ending on time; provides adequate and effective fitness skills and lessons.
Instructs patrons on appropriate workout and training methods; explains proper techniques, demonstrates exercises and identifies different muscle groups.
Prepares appropriate equipment and learning aids for each class.
Develops age-appropriate curriculum as well as level 2 curriculum.
Assists patrons, answers questions, and maintains a positive experience for participants.
Keeps management informed of customer and facility needs.
Ensures that safety standards are met, and department and facility policies are adhered to.
Implements and regulates the facilities' policies and procedures.
Performs other related duties as required.
SKILLS REQUIRED
Previous teaching experience in a group setting required.
Able to teach starting at age 5 participants
Self-motivated, with excellent communication and customer service skills.
Punctual, reliable, organized and responsible.
Keeps management informed of customer and facility needs.
Ensures that safety standards are met, and that department and facility policies are adhered to.
QUALIFICATIONS
The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Applicants must be currently USATF (United States Association of Track & Field) Level 1 Certified, and/or have at least 3 years of high school or college level coaching experience. Additional specialty/certifications preferred: Possess current Red Cross CPR certification, Certified Instructor (ACE, AFAA) or equivalent, have working knowledge of human anatomy, kinesiology and training principles. Ability to be professional and motivate class participants. Ability to cooperate and work well with other staff members.
SCHEDULE: 3:30 -7:00 PM on Wednesdays and Thursdays
Ability to work with limited supervision and as a team member. This position requires the ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays.
HOURLY RATE: $19.00
