Coordinator, Business & Legal Affairs
BMG’s US-based Business & Legal Affairs Department seeks a dynamic contributor who can actively support our New York, Los Angeles, and Nashville offices. This is a phenomenal opportunity for a self-starter and quick study who desires a career in the music industry. Your primary mission is to comprise Team Administration and Contract Management, functioning as “air traffic control” for Publishing, Recorded Music, Litigation, and Operations functions across the nationwide team.
What You’ll Be Doing.
- Autonomously manage the lifecycle of agreements, business documents, filings and correspondence, including populating drafts, resolving redlines, liaising with BLA lawyers and outside counsel, and communicating with opposing parties, in the following areas, among others:

- Work-for-hire (photography, video shoot, promotional content, artwork)
- Sweepstakes /contest terms & conditions
- Standardized performance forms (with label waivers)
- Data transfer agreements (as prepared by digital marketing teams)
- Artwork quitclaim licenses
- Venue agreements
- Catering agreements
- Option / termination Notices
- Cease and desist letters

- Handle back-end transaction process, including coordinating signatures, preparing deal summary emails for circulation, and appropriately circulating and filing execution copies of agreements
- Update agreement templates per team instructions
- Routinely maintain and update multiple workflow, contract, and matter status trackers via funneling input from applicable internal stakeholders
- Troubleshoot and champion continuous process improvement in response to evolving business needs and corporate requirements
- Support the ongoing development of a contract management system
- Perform limited clerical work in support of team operations
- Assist with teamwide employee engagement initiatives
Must-Haves
- Prior substantive paralegal and/or contract management experience
- Enjoys working in a fast-paced multiple time zone setting
- Effectively prioritizes contemporaneous time-sensitive initiatives
- Demonstrates decisiveness with minimal supervision
- Possesses approachable communication skills
- Builds relationships and exercises influence in a matrixed environment
- Exercises discretion in a unique industry with notable personalities
- Maintains proficiency with the full suite of MS computer applications
