Description

Summary: The Apparel Supervisor Level I supervises and coordinates the activities of sewing machine operators assembling articles. This position carries out responsibilities according to the organization’s policies and applicable laws.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that daily production quotas are met.
  • Ensures that quality products are produced.
  • Completes documentation and reports as outlined in the quality assurance plan. This includes attendance, payroll, and production reports.
  • Reports production and mechanical issues to the Supervisor.
  • Attends training meetings as assigned.
  • Meets 3 hours per year requirement of training/staff development.
  • Utilizes a teamwork approach for all projects.
  • Supports ISO-9000 and Quality Management Systems requirements.
  • Promote vision, value, culture, and commitment to excellent customer services to all customers and stakeholders.
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment.
  • Assists with training people with or without disabilities as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Directly supervises workers/participants in the Apparel Department. 
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities per the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints; and resolving problems.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and six months of related experience and/or training.

Competencies To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

Problem Solving- Identifies and resolves problems promptly, develops alternative solutions, and uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics.

Communication and customer services - Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.  Spanish/ French-Creole is a plus, but not required. Use terminology that is appropriate to the intended audience.  Edits written work for spelling and grammar.  Speaks clearly so others can understand. Demonstrates listening to and understanding information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences, and getting clarification.

Mathematic Skills - Applying basic arithmetic calculations, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.  Presents numerical data effectively.
