Role and Responsibilities:
- Plan electrical installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring
- Prepare and present sketches showing location of wiring and equipment.
- Follow diagrams, blueprints and interrupt specifications.
- Accountable for all equipment, materials and tools
- Maintain all work sites clean and in order
- Demonstrate safe work habits and proper care of equipment and tools
- Complete all required paperwork
Position Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Little to no prior knowledge or experience accepted
- Relevant electrical substation utility management experience in manufacturing environment preferred.
- Work in all elements of weather depending on time of year: heat, cold, rain and snow
- Have personal tools as required in our company policy
- Work from all types of step ladders, frame ladders and all size extension ladders.
- Being able to carry and relocate up to 12 ft. step ladders by oneself.
- Carry fifty (50) pounds of tools, materials or equipment
- Be able to go up and down stairways on a daily basis
- Perform work at various heights from ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks or other safe work areas
- Work in restricted areas: switchgear rooms, manholes, vaults, trenches, crawl spaces and attics or other spaces required to perform electrical work
- Will adhere to all safe work procedures as outlined in company policies, Lockout/Tag out Policy and Confined Space policy.
- Read and interpret: maps, instructional manuals, specifications work site directions, blue prints and written instructions
- Communicate and process good verbal and written communication skills in English
- On some occasions you will be required to work out of the area, which could require staying overnight or several nights, depending on the job requirements.
- Attend educational and training classes as required
- Have a good working knowledge of the tasks required to perform on all phases of electrical work
- Can bend Conduits using hand benders, mechanical benders or hydraulic benders
- Knowledgeable of the NEC code book.
- Understands basic electricity, can draw basic ladder diagrams and wire diagrams from prints.
- Knowledge of the use of power tools, saws, threaders, wire tuggers, knock punches and any tools associated with the electrical industry.
- Operate and work from mechanical personnel lifts electric or gas powered.
Physical Function:
- Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull and reach overhead.
- Lift arms above shoulder level
- Lift minimum of 50 pounds
- Climb ladders (all Types)
- Be able to wear all (PPE) Personal Protection Equipment
- Complete overhead work for a full day assignments
