Workforce Development Coordinator

Job Purpose
The Work Force Development Coordinator (also known as Life Design Coordinator) is responsible for the development and implementation of youth-centered programming that supports career readiness, workforce development, and entrepreneurship for participants ages 12–24, with a focus on Native Hawaiian culture. Housed at the Liliʻuokalani Center (LC), this role coordinates accessible, relevant, and engaging opportunities that empower youth to explore personal strengths, identify meaningful career and entrepreneurial pathways, and build practical life and business skills. The Life Design Coordinator will collaborate with the Life Readiness team, other Pathway Coordinators, community partners, and subject matter experts to support holistic, culturally grounded programming that prepares youth for future success in Hawaiʻi and beyond.
Essential Responsibilities
Program Development
• Lead the implementation of programming that helps youth explore and plan career and life paths, with an emphasis on hands-on learning, mentorship, and exposure to real-world opportunities. Programming will align with the Wehe Ke Ala, the Trust’s 2045 Strategic Vision.
• Support Life Design Manager in building a collection of cohort-based, and one-time offerings, such as resume/brand workshops, business incubators, financial literacy sessions, and mock interviews
• Collaborate with local entrepreneurs, workforce development agencies, and educators to offer high-impact experiences and learning opportunities
• Support the cultivation of youth identity, purpose, and leadership through curriculum that is strength-based, culturally relevant, and community-rooted
• Integrate Native Hawaiian values and practices in programming to reinforce cultural identity and local perspectives while connecting youth to global career possibilities
• Collaborate with other Pathways Coordinators to offer cross-disciplinary initiatives that blend arts, culture, technology, and life skills
• Coordinate with technical services for AV or presentation needs during events and programming
Program Administration
• Oversee documentation, filing systems, and program records in alignment with organizational standards for security and retrieval.
• Schedule and support internal and partner meetings, including preparation of agendas, materials, and presentations
• Work in coordination with IT to ensure smooth operation of technologies supporting program delivery.
• Support Life Design manager in delivering Life Design programming.

Systems Management
• Work collaboratively with the Director to design data collection processes that provide regular, actionable feedback from participants to inform program design and report to Research & Evaluation.
• Establish strong ties to LT’s Youth Advisory Committee, increasing opportunities for youth voice and youth leadership throughout performing arts program development.
• Work collaboratively with program leadership to ensure appropriate staffing and supervision of all program spaces.
• Provide program coverage as necessary.
• Provide ongoing support and guidance for program teammates

Community Relations
• Maintain strong relationships with local and national partners and serve as a liaison for partnership implementation.
• Identify and cultivate, in collaboration with teammates and Community Resources team, relevant community partnerships.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current trends in youth services and performing arts, ensuring that community initiatives and programmatic strategies are aligned with current needs and environment.

Other Duties
• Participate in program planning, budget development, revision, and evaluation.
• Provides transportation for organization related business, such as driving staff, beneficiaries and/or families to assigned destinations.
• Participates in continuing education and training opportunities for professional development.
• Contributes to the Trust’s success by accepting new assignments, helping team members, learning new skills, and striving to improves team and organization results.

Qualifications
• High school diploma, or equivalent 3-5 years professional experience working with Native Hawaiian organizations, education, and/or youth programs.
• Valid driver’s license, clean traffic abstract.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
• Must be able to work independently and on a team, with both strength in leadership and collaboration.
