Job Description

The Senior Writer role leads and creates the content that supports the critical work of the team on a national public health education initiative. This role leads the process of identifying, cultivating, managing, and delivering the content efforts across the public health initiative effort. The role is responsible for critical thinking in identifying key public facing and internal content that supports annual campaign launch activities, ongoing campaign management activities and presentation to key stakeholders, including conference preparations and presentations. This is both a thinking and doing role, with thought leadership, day-to-day execution and project management, tracking, client management and on-going team member connectivity as essential parts of the day-to-day responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic leadership in defining and delivering a high quality Content Development and delivery strategy and annual plan that includes new frontier thinking, solid point of view and recommendations based in experience and knowledge
  • Deliver the day-to-day writing and editing needs across on-going campaign management needs, website content update needs, presentation development needs, often with rapid response necessary
  • Lead the Content Development efforts including pro-active point of view on opportunities, editorial planning, content development, collaboration for content opportunities across the Media, Social, Partnership and Digital teams
  • Drive the development and delivery of creative, content and editorial assets from our subcontractors to resonate with priority audiences and ensure channels are being used in high-value and measurable ways
  • Delivers high-quality products and services based on quality assurance protocol (QA)
  • Identify, understand, and alert team to industry trends and issues that affect clients, particularly related to Content Development
  • Follow the shifts in platform functionality to ensure strategies succeed; ensure client programs adapt to ongoing Social platform innovations
  • ·Successfully manage team of experts across agency ,subcontractors and client, including content producers, platform strategists, media placement, and analytics to achieve client/program objectives and ensure successful performance
  • Business acumen in developing the elements of social and content marketing and building execution plans consistent with defined goals and objectives
  • Deliver high-quality products and services based on quality assurance protocol (QA)
  • Partner with and build relationships with subcontractors and client teams
  • Communicate clearly and frequently to both internal and client teams, inspiring confidence with client and colleagues

Qualifications

Knowledge

  • Public policy understanding as it relates to Content Development
  • Exemplary writing and editing skills and experience
  • Website content development knowledge and experience
  • Regularly demonstrates critical thinking skills and sound judgement
  • Continuously learning technology and ability to quickly adapt to new technologies

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree a plus
  • Public Health/Non-Profit/Government Agency and/or Regulated Categories work a plus
  • Minimum of 6+ years in the communications, marketing and digital space, with proven writing & editing experience
  • Experience in health communications and/or marketing environment a plus; tobacco control experience a plus
