About the role

IMEG is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer in St. Louis, MO, to join our top 5 U.S. engineering design firm known for award-winning projects, advanced technology, and a collaborative culture. You’ll lead and manage structural design for buildings and infrastructure, oversee complex projects from concept to completion, and deliver innovative, cost-effective solutions. This role offers opportunities to manage budgets, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on high-profile, sustainable designs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Makes key design decisions independently with minimal senior input.
  • Plans and delegates design tasks across disciplines for projects of all sizes.
  • Leads quality control reviews and mentor’s junior staff.
  • Provides technical leadership on both large and small projects.
  • Act as key advisor on complex technical issues and authors detailed reports.
  • Resolves field issues on-site with minimal support.
  • Serves as Project Manager on major projects or multiple smaller ones.
  • Identifies and pursues new business opportunities, prepares proposals, and supports client presentations.
  • Consistently brings in new work and strengthens client relationships.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering, or equivalent, required
  • Master’s Degree (MS) in Structural Engineering preferred
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License required
  • 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting industry
  • Advanced proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
  • Advanced proficiency in technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles in mechanics and materials, load paths, design techniques, design standards including steel, concrete, wood, masonry, and concepts involved in structural systems of buildings and structures
  • Strong training, mentoring and leadership skills
  • Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise
  • Ability to sell work and develop client relationships
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and demonstrate effective team building skills
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Eagerness to adapt to new challenges
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays
