Job Summary

The Director of Logistics will lead all aspects of our product movement—from supplier to customer—ensuring efficient, cost-effective, and scalable operations across ecommerce fulfillment, store distribution, and domestic freight. This role oversees multiple third-party logistics (3PL) providers and the company’s end-to-end transportation network, balancing service, cost, and capacity to meet the needs of our fast-growing omnichannel retail business.

Key Responsibilities

3PL & Fulfillment Management

• Oversee daily operations of multiple 3PL partners responsible for e-commerce fulfillment, store replenishment, shipping for other commercial channels, returns processing, inventory adjustments, and assembly
• Set service-level expectations, monitor KPIs, and ensure 3PL adherence to operational, cost, and customer-experience standards
• Drive continuous improvement and automation initiatives within fulfillment centers, including throughput efficiency, labor productivity, and packaging optimization
• Own budget for all Warehouse & Logistics categories

Transportation & Freight

• Lead the company’s domestic freight and transportation strategy, including small parcel, and LTL/TL
• Partner with Managing Director of Finance, Macy’s Senior Director of Transportation, and Macy’s Director of Omnichannel Analytics
• Procurement to negotiate carrier and broker contracts that balance cost efficiency with reliability and scalability, including Rate Shopping Program
• Oversee inbound freight from vendor to DC, ensuring alignment with vendor compliance requirements and dock scheduling protocols
• Manage Logistics Analyst, responsible for day-to-day management of freight across Bluemercury organization and data analyses related to shipping and inventory

Network Strategy and Optimization

• Develop and execute the company’s overall logistics strategy, encompassing inbound, outbound, and reverse logistics across both e-commerce and store channels
• Evaluate and refine the distribution footprint, including the performance and structure of multiple 3PL partners, to support growth, agility, and service excellence
• Lead the design and rollout of a centralized store distribution strategy, optimizing replenishment frequency, order consolidation, and transportation cost per unit
• Partner with Head of Supply Chain, Directors of Merchandise Planning, and Director of Inventory Management to align capacity planning, allocation, and network flow design with demand forecasts and seasonal peaks

Cross-Functional Leadership & Collaboration

• Collaborate with Managing Director of Digital, VP of Stores, and Head of Customer Experience to ensure delivery timelines and order accuracy meet brand and customer expectations
• Serve as the key logistics liaison with Head of Merch Planning, Director of Inventory Management, and Director of Vendor Compliance to ensure inventory flow and operational readiness
• Partner with Director of Technology to enable visibility tools and data integrations across WMS and ERP systems
• Develop contingency plans for network disruptions, weather events, and carrier capacity constraints

Qualifications

• 10+ years of logistics, distribution, or supply chain management experience in retail, e-commerce, or consumer goods
• Proven experience overseeing 3PL relationships, transportation networks, and large-scale fulfillment operations
