Position Summary

The Surety Intern will participate in a structured internship experience within Acrisure’s Surety practice. This role is designed to provide hands-on exposure to the surety industry, including contract and commercial surety bonding, underwriting support, and client service operations.

Throughout the internship, the Surety Intern will work closely with Surety Underwriters, Account Managers, and Brokers to gain a foundational understanding of how surety bonds support contractors, businesses, and public projects. This position is ideal for students interested in insurance, finance, accounting, risk management, construction management, or business who want to explore a career in surety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Surety Account Managers, Client Advisors, and Underwriters with day-to-day bond processing and administrative tasks

  • Assist with the preparation, issuance, and renewal of surety bonds (including bid, performance, payment, license & permit bonds)

  • Help collect, analyze and organize contractor financial statements, schedules, and supplemental underwriting documentation

  • Review bond requests and submissions for completeness and accuracy

  • Update and maintain client and bond files within the agency management system

  • Assist with data entry and documentation related to underwriting decisions and risk evaluations

  • Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and job shadowing opportunities within the Surety department

  • Collaborate with internal teams to support client service and operational workflows

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Rising college Junior or Senior pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, Construction Management, or a related field

  • Interest in insurance, surety, finance, or construction-related industries preferred

  • Proactive self-starter with a strong desire to learn

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Ability to manage multiple time-sensitive tasks

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint

  • Willingness to work full-time onsite (this program is not eligible for remote or hybrid work)
