A Brief Overview


The Fulfillment Center General Manager 2 is a collaborative, results-driven leader who establishes the direction for local operation and ensures alignment with business objectives. They support higher volume fulfillment center operations generally servicing more than 900,000 out shipments annually. They have direct P&L and operational responsibilities and must drive best practice accountability throughout the operation. To be successful, the leader must create an engaging culture and identify and develop talent. They must take a strategic approach and understand what levers to pull to drive customer and operational excellence. They must be flexible and adaptable as Safelite's business model continues to evolve.

What you will do

Leadership and Direction:

Contextualize and communicate the strategy for achieving fulfillment center mission and values.

Responsible for the full cycle of talent fundamentals, including selection, onboarding, training, development, performance management, culture, and engagement of their team.

Inspire a workforce to commit to the strategy and do extraordinary things to achieve the business goals

Create a rewarding and positive work environment that encourages the retention of associates. Identify and address any barriers to retention, including managing associate work-related concerns.

Succession and Capability Building:

Evaluate current capabilities, identify gaps, and prioritize development activities for fulfillment centers leaders

Develop leadership skills and succession plans for both shift managers and supervisors

Identify and develop talent with the ability to grow into more complex roles

Ensure that hiring practices for critical roles deliver talent with a long runway, creating deep bench strength

Fulfillment Center Management:

Direct the execution of annual and long-term business plans for a fulfillment center, ensuring alignment with the business direction, quantify business outcomes (i.e., productivity, Inventory management, customer experience, cost optimization and product care)

Customer Experience and Quality:

Work with fulfillment center leaders to create a culture that drives a great, memorable, and easy customer experience in all serviced fulfillment sites

Ensure the quality of the product received is fit for purpose

P&L Management:

Oversees the P&L for the fulfillment center, ensuring objectives are met to provide a world class service at optimized cost.

Conduct a monthly P&L review with location leaders to educate and train

Health and Safety:

Ensures Federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., OSHA, CDL, DOT and MHE) are being followed in fulfillment center

Proactively identify risk behaviors and coach/train to eliminate

Ensure the operation leads with safety

Internal Collaboration:

Work across organizational boundaries to drive results, frequently collaborating, negotiating, and planning with critical colleagues such as logistics, fulfillment operations, and inventory planning leadership.

Performs other duties as assigned

Complies with all policies and standards

Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Preferred or

Experience Qualifications

  • 10+ years leadership and supervisory experience Required

  • 4-6 years supply chain leadership experience Required

Skills and Abilities

  • WMS experience required (HighJump/Koerber experience a plus) (High proficiency)

  • Travel up to 20% (High proficiency)

  • Physical requirements are inclusive, but not limited to, the following:

  • Ability to work at a physical distribution location

  • Ability to work in an office environment (in a stationary position) but will also on fulfillment floor as needed

  • Ability to occasionally lift windshields, up to 35 pounds

  • Ability to satisfy all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements as outlined in the Field Supplemental Handbook (i.e., ability to wear safety glasses whil
