What we are looking for 
Ampd Energy is growing and seeking a System Engineer to join its product development and R&D team. You will be working closely with our Field Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain teams building and maintaining system design, testing plans and procedures, and ongoing verification.

What you need

• Work closely with the Product Management team to build an understanding of market and customer application requirements.
• Use System Engineering principles to translate market / customer requirements into product design specifications.
• Ownership, at a system-level, of Ampd Energy’s design of high-powered battery systems, particularly focused on electrical and mechanical design aspects.
• Liaison closely with the Systems Engineering group responsible for embedded software design and cloud computing.
• Formulate and specify product test requirements, especially as it relates to the overall system.
• Lead the design and testing of the product to meet applicable regulatory standards globally.
• Document designs with engineering models and drawings, and relevant analyses as an interface to other disciplines.
• Close collaboration with the Operations and Manufacturing Teams to meet cost targets and DFM through optimized system design.
• Based on feedback from the field, participate in FMEA for the product designs.
• Serve as a technical resource for the Sales / Business Development team for integration of products into customer applications.

What you will do

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, in engineering, preferably electrical, mechanical, or related field.
• Over five years of prior experience in engineering of battery and power systems; Industrial power, or construction / mining segment experience is a plus.
• Experience in design of systems for high-voltage applications (500 to 1500 volts DC).Experience with electrical and fire safety mechanisms is required.
• Strong understanding of underlying systems design concepts and ability to anticipate design requirements, especially as related to high voltage and high current applications.
• Familiarity with control and monitoring interfaces, and industry standard communications.
• Experience with designs going into commercial production.
• Familiarity with development phases and engineering change processes.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
