Sr. Product Designer - Calcite Brand Design System

Overview
Join Esri’s marketing design team and contribute to crafting engaging, consistent user experiences using Calcite Brand, Esri’s design system for esri.com. As part of our team, you will help develop and document foundational design and global components, collaborating with designers and developers to ensure consistency, functionality, and flexibility across the site. With a focus on individual responsibility and rapid development, you’ll play a key role in promoting Esri’s design-first mindset and expanding the reach of our location-based technology. Success in this role requires a strong understanding of user-centered design, systemic thinking, and interaction design principles.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to architecting our Figma environment, working closely with other designers, front-end developers, and the Calcite team to enhance UI kits, foundations, tokens, and individual component Figma files while helping govern processes for component creation, version control, announcements, and more
- Define detailed design specifications for components in Figma that include component anatomy, states, types, color, layout, accessibility, and more
- Define component documentation, ensuring consistent content organization for usage guidelines
- Facilitate design reviews with internal and external teams and company stakeholders incorporating feedback into your work
- Partner with researchers and the UX team to validate usability of components and proactively advocate for the right work
- Provide design direction on component usage and facilitate educational demos to users and developers
- Help lead engagement with front-end developers to achieve architectural, visual, and interaction consistency between components in Figma and in the development environment
- Participate in design systems conferences, constantly learning about design system and Figma innovation practices while applying those into your work
- Help mentor more junior designers and participate in design critiques and reviews
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience designing and delivering products for both web and mobile platforms
- Showcase a portfolio illustrating successful management of design systems, highlighting expertise in this area
- Proven ability to take ownership and drive results, going beyond expected duties for the success of the team and deliverables
- Passion for continuous improvement and advocacy for leveraging innovative design and front-end practices to drive excellence
- Ability to facilitate workshops and present to large audiences, effectively communicating design concepts and ideas
- Experience using Figma, Figma UI Kits, adhering to established pattern libraries and required frameworks
- Strong written and verbal communication skills essential for collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
- Bachelor’s in human-computer interaction, graphic design, or a related field
Recommended Qualifications
- Experience designing for and working with Adobe Experience Manager
- Familiarity with GitHub and front-end technologies (Stencil, JavaScript, Angular, Ember, React, HTML, CSS, Storybook)
- Experience coding interactive prototypes or/and component interactive samples

Compensation decisions and the base range for this role take into account many factors including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.
