About the team and position
We’re looking for an Environmental professional to join our EHS team and support our mission to continue to build strong environmental compliance initiatives and health and safety programs. The Project Manager, EHS is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and monitoring of the organization's environmental programs and initiatives with a primary focus on environmental compliance and waste disposal. The Project Manager, EHS plays a main role in the collection and management of environmental data, operational data, and other records required for compliance and regulatory reporting.
The Project Manager, EHS collaborates with cross functional teams to integrate environmental considerations into daily operations and contributes to fostering a culture of environmental responsibility. This is a corporate role that supports multiple facilities nation wide
What you’ll be doing
- Gather information from facilities nationwide and prepare environmental reports, such as Tier II, air compliance reports, waste reports, and wastewater discharge reports
- Review and manage revisions to environmental plans, such as spill prevention, control, and countermeasure (SPCC), stormwater pollution prevention plans (SWPPP), and waste contingency plans
- Manage environmental data including but not limited to air emissions, wastewater, chemical usage, and waste generation
- Prepare and facilitate environmental trainings
- Provide environmental compliance support to operating locations, including on site as needed.
- Work collaboratively with the EHS staff in a dynamic environment
- Perform multiple projects within schedule expectations
- Communicate with Carvana employees, consultants, vendors, and contractors
- Monitor programs and performance to track compliance and effectiveness of all EHS initiatives.
- Analyze data to identify trends, monitor program performance, and report on progress.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships within the EHS team, Carvana’s on-site Inspection Center leadership teams, and various other internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with EHS regulations
- Collaborate with outside consultants as needed
- Directly interface with regulators and inspectors as needed
- Other tasks related to environmental affairs and health and safety as assigned by team leadership
What you should know/have
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, or related field
- At least 5 years of relevant experience (including graduate work) within the Environmental compliance or environmental Health and Safety field
- Self-Driven and must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated competence applying for, implementing, and managing environmental permits.
- Strong knowledge of environmental legislation including RCRA, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, and SARA Title III
- Strong analytical and data-driven skill set
- Experience working closely and communicating effectively with a diverse set of stakeholders in an ever-changing, rapid growth environment with tight deadlines;
- Ability to multitask, set priorities, maintain flexibility, and work independently with minimal supervision
- Knowledge of how to utilize Google suite
- Willingness to travel domestically as needed, up to 25%
