Position Overview
The Utility Maintenance Apprentice role is an engaging, hands-on position focused on assisting the Utility Maintenance and Maintenance team with the upkeep, troubleshooting, and repair of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) equipment. Under the supervision of management or senior technicians and engineers, the apprentice acquires knowledge of the critical dependencies necessary for the smooth operation of equipment, ensuring pharmaceutical processes are conducted efficiently and meet strict quality standards. The apprenticeship program offers thorough training and skill development in technical domains and GMP standards within a highly regulated environment.

Job Description
What You’ll Do
- Learns to diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues in GMP equipment to maintain operational efficiency and minimize downtime
- Assists in the maintenance and repair of equipment, including mixers, blenders, pumps, and filtration systems while ensuring compliance with GMP standards and regulatory requirements
- Performs preventive maintenance routines, under supervision, and learns how to conduct inspections, identify potential issues, and perform corrective actions to extend equipment life and maintain reliability
- Supports the Maintenance team with calibration activities and adjustments to equipment, as needed to ensure the equipment operates within defined parameters for quality and safety
- Assists with logging and maintaining maintenance activities while gaining experience with industry-standard and company documentation practices and regulatory guidelines
- Adheres to all safety procedures, GMP, and quality standards, and learns to work in a cleanroom environment with a focus on contamination control
- Collaborates cross-functionally with Engineering, Production, and Quality teams to understand the role of GMP in maintenance and maintaining product quality and compliance
- Participates in on-the-job training, technical workshops, or other relevant certification programs to expand technical skills and knowledge of process maintenance in the pharmaceutical industry
- Performs other duties, as assigned

- Ability to approach technical problems logically and learn troubleshooting techniques
- Effective communication, both written and oral
- Ability to document maintenance work and collaborate with team members
- Ability to lift and move heavy equipment, work in confined spaces, and stand for extended periods of time
- Must be able to work Monday-Friday and may require weekend work to meet Manufacturing needs
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 0-1 years of maintenance experience
- Strong interest in learning about the pharmaceutical manufacturing process and facility utility maintenance
Preferred Skills
- Associate’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Applied Engineering or another relevant field
- Enrollment in or completion of a technical or vocational training program in industrial maintenance, mechanical engineering, or related field
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Will work in environment which may necessitate respiratory protection
- May work in Mechanical/Production spaces that may require hearing protection and
