Job Summary:

In addition to core Park Ranger Duties this position exists to Coordinate the Volunteer Program and Events at Riordan Mansion State Historic Park. Under the supervision of the Park Manager and in collaboration with other Park Rangers, the Coordinator will ensure volunteers are adequately trained and effectively assigned to meet the needs of the park. Coordinates the scheduling of group tours, events, weddings, and Special Use Permits for facility rentals.

Job Duties:

Park Ranger Senior:

Volunteer Program - Responsible for the decisions concerning the quality of the program operations and the appropriate use of volunteer staff. Duties include: recruiting, screening, training, coaching, advising, and evaluating volunteers. Includes program development specific to Agency and Park policies and procedures. Also requires coordination with Park Manager for effective use of volunteers in all areas of park operations. Coordinates with staff on training volunteers in interpretation and collections care. Collects and analyzes volunteer data and coordinates with the Agency Volunteer Manager. Responsible for the generation of detailed reports needed by the park and the statewide volunteer program manager. Authority to plan, Coordinate and implement volunteer work schedules: work assignments, weekly and daily scheduling support as needed. Meets with volunteers on a regular basis to ensure comprehension of agency policies and park procedures. Takes corrective action as needed to ensure a high level of internal and external customer service is provided by all volunteers.

Park Ranger Senior and Park Ranger:

Events & Group Tour Coordinator - Schedules and organizes park events, weddings, facility rentals, and completes needed Special Use Permits. Promotes and schedules group tours for schools, organizations, and tour companies.

Programmatic & Social Media- Hosts visitors; researches, develops, and conducts interpretive programs and guided tours of the Riordan Mansion; Provides information in response to visitor questions, direction, guidance, and concerns. Manage the park presence on various platforms. Sharing history, park & event information for Riordan Mansion and other State Parks. Regularly check and respond to public comments. Verify correct information is available on search engines.

Cash Handling, Customer Service, Public & Staff Safety - Perform cashier duties at Contact Station/Gift Shop; collect and account for fees for park admission and store purchases. Records and completes all necessary reports concerning revenue and attendance, time sheets, etc. Provides customer service by phone and in-person and responds to public inquiries about park hours accommodations, and reservations. Prepare the buildings and grounds for visitors while checking for safety, basic facility maintenance, cleaning handrails, vacuuming, dusting artifacts and exhibits, litter collection. Promote the safety of park visitors and enforce Park rules and protect park resources; utilizes two-way radio communication system; Confers with local officials and law enforcement officers; Completes all necessary reports concerning incidents.
