Food Safety Role & Responsibility:
As an individual, the incumbent must understand the Food Safety Statement, complete the
required training, perform work assignments in accordance with training and display an acceptable level of competency with all Quality Assurance/Safety/Security policies and training requirements. Areas of food safety training will include, but are not limited to, GMP, Food Safety Plan, Listeria, Food Safety and Quality Statement, FSSC 22000/Global Food Safety Policy/Food Safety Goals, Visitor/Food/Site Security, Emergency Preparedness, and Blood borne Pathogens.
Some additional items will include: GLP's and equipment calibration.
The individual must also request additional and/or refresher training if he or she feels that it is needed to effectively perform requirements in specific areas of responsibility.
Summary:
The QA Micro Technician coordinates and performs microbiological analysis of product and environmental samples based on company projects, customer quality and food safety requirements.
Job Function Statements - Essential Functions:
- Performs microbiological analysis of product (using Petri film), according to company and customer specs.
- Performs microbiological analysis of environmental samples, according to company and customer specs.
- Conducts follow-ups on out of spec test results.
- Communicates result(s) and any out of spec test result(s) to quality manager and
supervisor on weekly or monthly basis
- Performs computer data entry
- Performs other duties as assigned.
For example, but not limited to:
- Project sample evaluation
- Lab supply inventory and ordering
- Supports the QA department by performing pre-op, swabs, Spartan inspection any other additional tasks in QA department.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.
Required Qualifications/Skills:
- Posses basic science and technical aptitude.
- Posses demonstrated basic computer skills.
- Posses good oral and written communication skills.
- Be capable of meeting all attendance requirements.
- Be proficient in English (oral and written).
Other Desired Qualifications/Skills:
Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel skills
Experience:
Six months to one year of experience in a food manufacturing facility QA laboratory
Education/Training:
High School Diploma (or equivalent)
