The Environmental Science Institute at UT Austin seeks an Academic Program Coordinator to advance education, research, and community engagement initiatives focused on environmental science and sustainability. ESI facilitates interdisciplinary initiatives to address challenges to resilience in the face of projected rapid urbanization, population growth, climate change, and environmental science in the 21st century.
Purpose
Work with faculty, community organizations and ESI Director in developing programs in sustainability and the environment for research training, student opportunities, community engagement, and environmental justice; and coordinate interdisciplinary research, education, and community engagement initiatives, develop and submit grant proposals for the Environmental Science Institute.
Responsibilities
Coordinate research training programs in Environmental Science and Sustainable Urban Systems, including managing program enrollment, logistics, and budget.
Work with faculty, community organizations and ESI Director in developing programs and proposals in sustainability and the environment for research training, student opportunities, community engagement, environmental science, and co-design of research to address resilience challenges described above.
Assist faculty and staff to coordinate research, services, scholarships, and experiential learning opportunities for students.
Draft media, including web and print materials, to communicate information on sustainability degrees and sustainability research activities.
Attend professional development seminars. Work on special projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in STEM or related field, emphasizing sustainability, water resources, climate change, community engagement, or interdisciplinary research. No less than three (3) years of work experience in related field. Experience developing proposals for programs in community engagement, environmental science, and co- design of research to address resilience challenges. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated record of managing interdisciplinary education, research, or community engagement programs. Demonstrated record of leading successful proposal preparation. Master’s degree in relevant field.
Salary Range
$48,000 - $56,000 depending on qualifications
