Server - Lead

Job Summary:

Lead servers take the lead in waiting on patrons at eating establishments. They are dedicated to exceptional customer service and coordinate the efforts of others on staff to ensure diners walk away satisfied.

Responsibilities:

• Training new hires in the service style of the restaurant and standard operating procedures including safety and sanitation expectations.
• Be fully knowledgeable about the most up to date menu, daily specials and bar list at the worksite
• Share knowledge with new servers who ask questions about describing dishes to guests, how dishes are prepared and any particulars about table-side preparations or special utensils.
• Comply with and enforce alcohol awareness laws and procedures.
• Take food and beverage orders from guests, enter orders in POS system
• Ensure that all orders are accurate and brought to each table in a timely manner
• Confirm orders with the chefs and bartenders whenever a clarification is requested
• Ensure guests are satisfied with the food and service, respond promptly and courteously to any requests
• When a manager is not present or busy handling other tasks, a lead server is responsible for resolving customer complaints with the food or service.
• Assign daily side work for floor staff to ensure the restaurant runs efficiently
• The lead server may be responsible for checking each servers’ books to make sure cash balances at the end of each shift
• Performs all relative miscellaneous duties as directed by supervisor/manager

Essential Job Functions; include but not limited to:

• Take food and beverage orders from guests, enter orders in POS system
• Ensure that all orders are accurate and brought to each table in a timely manner
• Confirm orders with the chefs and bartenders whenever a clarification is requested
• Offer suggestions by using suggestive selling techniques (daily specials, cocktails, appetizers, entrees, desserts, and after dinner beverages)
• Perform side work at the start and end of each shift as required by service station assignment.
• Maintain cleanliness and condition of the work areas and equipment.
• Implement steps of service for guests consistently
• Ensure guests are satisfied with the food and service, respond promptly and courteously to any requests
• Prepare final bill, present check to guest, accept payment, process credit card charges or
  make changes (if applicable)
• Be ready and willing to assist fellow servers as situations arise.
• Assist with setting tables and rearranging tables to accommodate larger parties

Qualifications:

• Be able to communicate clearly and effectively (verbal & written)
• Possess basic math skills
• Ability to handle money and operate a cash register and POS system
• Professional presentation and positive attitude
• Possess strong organizational and multi-tasking skills

• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Must have excellent knowledge of fine dining room and service procedures and functions
• Open availability; must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays
