JOB TITLE:
Assistant Librarian - Scholarly Communications and Open Publishing Librarian
JOB PURPOSE:
The University of Wyoming Libraries invites applications for a Scholarly Communications and Open Publishing Librarian. Reporting to the Chair of Digital and Distinctive Collections, the Scholarly Communications and Open Publishing Librarian will provide expert guidance and training in contemporary scholarly communication issues and will help promote openly accessible models of publishing for UW faculty, staff, and students. This position will coordinate UW’s institutional repository, WyoScholar, help maintain and promote University of Wyoming Open Journals (on the OJS platform), manage the UW Libraries Open Educational Resources grant program, and assist in the maintenance of the Wyoming Research & Data Index (WRDI).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Advocate for open access publishing in the university community and beyond
- Provide leadership for and support UW Libraries Open Journals publishing platform
- Promote and support the use of WyoScholar, UW’s institutional repository, to faculty, students, and staff
- Assist with the maintenance and development of the Wyoming Research & Data Index (WRDI)
- Manage UW Libraries Open Educational Resources (OER) grant program
- Assist with web archiving as it relates to preserving the scholarly record using a variety of web archiving tools (e.g. Archive-It, Webrecorder.net, etc.)
- Develop partnerships to support the research lifecycle by collaborating with library and university faculty and departments.
- Serve as point person for advice regarding author rights, copyright, fair use, and related topics
- Coordinate, plan, and execute relevant workshops, outreach, and training efforts for students, faculty, and staff
- Develop and implement training for librarians and staff on issues of scholarly communication and open scholarship
This position reports to the Chair of Digital and Distinctive Collections.
