Senior Manager, Engineering

Job Description

As the Senior Manager, Engineering, you will lead a high-performing team of web developers and be responsible for driving improvements in technology, processes, and tools that contribute to the overall growth and profitability of the business. We are looking for someone who is strong at both project management and people management. This full-time position reports to the Director of Digital Engineering. This role is expected to work in a hybrid model, which includes two days in-office.

What you’ll do:

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of high-performing engineers to successfully deliver the business needs
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners and build a technology roadmap
• Provide people management skills for development team members including development plans for team member growth and career navigation
• Work with product managers and business owners to ensure that project goals, scope, and resources are aligned
• Work with partners/vendors to get the work done
• Communicate the status of the project to cross-functional partners and leadership to keep everyone on the same page around the status of the project/release
• Supports quality assurance and troubleshooting during the lifecycle of the project
• Provide recommendations to the Director of Digital Technology regarding equipment, staff and training needs
• Assist the Program Management team with technical project management of the development team, including project planning, scheduling, status reporting, issue tracking, and resolution, etc.

What you bring to the table:

• 11+ years of industry experience in eCommerce web development
• 5+ years of industry experience managing a team of engineers
• Proven track record of successful execution of the full product/service development lifecycle from inception to production deployment and support
• Demonstrated success delivering large-scale, highly available, enterprise application/software
• Strong interpersonal and influencing skills
• Strong coaching and mentoring skills
• Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies and to maintain a high degree of technical involvement with your team and application/services
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Highly organized, exceptional attention-to-detail, enjoys multi-tasking
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adaptive towards change
• Ability to work effectively with different stakeholders (Engineering, product, operations, marketing) located in varied geographical locations
• Development experience in Java & Spring is a must
• Full stack development/team management experience is a big plus
• Experience with AWS or any other cloud technology is a plus
• Experience with Kubernetes and Dockers is a plus
• Experience in headless commerce implementation is highly desirable
• Development or management knowledge of eCommerce frameworks like Shopify, Hybris, BigCommerce or Commercetools is a must.
• Front-end technologies like react, angular, and node experience either development or management is a must
• Knowledge of integration, API based development is a must
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience
• Strong team leadership with offshore collaboration is a must
• Knowledge of agile development methodologies along with strong proficiency in Atlassian suite like JIRA and Confluence is highly desirable
• Knowledge of tag management tool like Tealium is highly desirable
• Build and release management working knowledge is a must
