Position Summary

Teaches assigned classes and performs instructional duties in diverse learning environments. Responsibilities will include designing and preparing for course assignments, maintaining scheduled office hours, student placement and performance assessments, student conferences, grading student work, and providing academic advisement. It is expected that faculty maintain current professional standards and practices, as well as attend committee/department meetings, and support the mission of SFCC and the School of Health Professions, Mathematics, and Science. Must be committed to serving a diverse college community.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepares EMSI/Allied Health students to be successful by providing feedback and evaluations of student performance.
  • advises and presents orientation seminars.
  • develops and delivers curriculum designed to teach students to think critically, to problem solve, to be professional, responsible, responsive, competent and confident.
  • prepares and schedules meetings, plans and revises curriculum.
  • participates in problem solving, collaboration with other faculty and curriculum planning that may involve credit for prior learning strategies, and provides lab skills set-up;
  • develops and coordinates student clinical experiences.
  • reviews and makes recommendations concerning new and currently available materials for possible purchase for use in instruction.
  • and assists students in obtaining knowledge through lectures, laboratory and skills testing, and appropriate clinical experience according to all appropriate program accreditation standards.

  • Current and demonstrated knowledge in applicable course content;

    Work Hours

    • 8 am to 5 pm Monday – Friday. Weekend and evening work may be required occasionally.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Possession of an EMT-Paramedic license from the State of New Mexico and/or National Registry of EMTs, and ability to obtain instructor credentials from a higher education institution.
    • Obtain (within one year of employment) certification as an American Heart Association Basic Life Support Instructor and Advanced Cardiac Life Support Instructor.
    • Associate’s Degree

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support Instructor (PALS), Pre-hospital Trauma Life Support Instructor (PHTLS), Advanced Medical Life Support Instructor (AMLS).
    • Teaching experience in a higher education environment.
    • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
    • FRC or CCP-C Advanced Certification
    • NM Instructor Coordinator or NAEMSE Instructor
