Job Description
AECOM is seeking an AVP Train Control Systems to manage train control systems design discipline within AECOM’s Rail/Transit Group, to join our World Class Rail Team in support of our New York Metro Region systems practice. The AVP Train Control Systems is identified as a key person in our successful delivery of the NY Metro’s systems projects. Location of role is to be in our Melville, NY or NYC office. Relocation is provided.
JOB SUMMARY:
As a member of the key personnel team, the AVP Train Control Systems will work collaboratively with a team of engineers and specialists across rail systems disciplines (Systems Engineering, Signals, Electrification Systems, Data Communications, and Project Controls), Project Managers, Systems Engineers, Signals Engineers, Analysts, and Coordinators. As the AVP Train Control Systems you will be responsible to ensuring that the systems design is completed, and requirements of the Performance Specifications and other design criteria are met.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead design and specification development of the following specialties: Systems Integration, SCADA, Communications, Trackwork, Signaling, Vehicle and Wayside Interfaces, Interface with Traction Power Design, Power Supply and Distribution, System and Train Simulation, Tunnel Constructability, and Fire Ventilation
- Overseeing the preparation of detailed calculations, drawings, technical specifications, procurement documents, design and installation packages, proposal evaluations, technical reports, cost estimates, detailed analyses, design justifications, and other materials suitable for procurement and construction purposes for transit/rail projects
- Ensure all design elements are compliant with the relevant Rail Operation Rules, all applicable industry codes and standards, and client expectations
- Provide valuable leadership to mid-career staff and mentoring to develop their technical skills.
- Interact with clients to discuss technical topics in a clear and professional manner. Facilitate resolution of customer expectations versus technical issues
- Work with tight schedules, be flexible, control project budgets, and motivate project team
- Plan and execute project work, based on an understanding of the project scope, schedule, and budget
- Other duties as assigned/required.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- BA/BS + 12 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 4 years of leadership experience
- 10 Years of experience in managing a team of signal engineers
- 10 years of experience in managing systems design of rail transit projects
- 5 years experience in delivering signal designs in mega projects projects equaling over $1Billion in construction value
- Experience on design management responsibility, including management of design services during design and construction on at least one alternative delivery rail transit project or other comparable delivery project
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 15 years of experience in the design and management of complex multidisciplinary train control system projects
- 5+ years of experience in business development experience
- Technical competence in all elements of transit/rail systems engineering
- Proven ability to work successfully in multi-disciplinary teams and across different business units
- Experience in different Phases of the Engineering Design Life and familiarity with Systems Engineering standards
- Ability to recommend appropriate actions to ensure compliance with clients, local, state, and federal regulati
