What You Will Do:
Pratt & Whitney is seeking an experienced Associate Director, Environment, Health, and Safety (EH&S), responsible for EH&S compliance associated at our Ceramic Matrix Composites Center of Excellence facility located in Carlsbad, California
Ownership of the site EHS program, including Process Safety Management (PSM) to deliver 100% compliance, plus, leadership of the site EHS team including prioritization and assignment of tasks for the internal team and external consultants as appropriate.
Execution of key tasks to assist the team in achieving objectives and set project objectives, schedules, and resources to meet the needs of the site.
Identification and implementation of opportunities within the PSM program to minimize risk over and above compliance requirements.
Partner with the leadership team and line supervision to ensure EH&S regulatory compliance with Federal, State and Local regulations and adherence to P&W procedures and RTX EH&S Standard Practices.
Review and approve EHS project results, internal and external documents. Review and adjust project budgets, schedules and resources as required.
Ensure adequacy of environmental record keeping and documentation in accordance with regulatory and corporate policies.
Act as a PSM technical resource for the site and provide training and support as required.
Establish local EHS Management Systems that are aligned with the company EHS Management System including maintenance of compliance with EHS Management System policies.
Lead site wide identification of health & safety hazards and controls to mitigate risks.
Deployment of corporate-wide programs, risk mitigation, and injury prevention initiatives.
Provide timely information and guidance for the General Manager and executive leadership, including EH&S performance trends and root cause corrective actions for incidents and injuries.
Lead the development and implementation of strategic action plans to achieve the company goal of a hazard-free workplace, injury-free employees and an unmatched commitment to compliance and sustainability.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Safety Engineering, Occupational Safety and Health, Mechanical Engineering from ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology)
12+ years of Engineering experience, or 10+ years with an advanced degree.
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
At least 5 years previous experience leading Process Safety Management (PSM) compliance
Qualifications We Prefer:
Advanced Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Safety Engineering, Occupational Safety and Health, Mechanical Engineering
At least 5 years of management experience including direct reports.
Proven strong communication, strategic leadership, technical, and interpersonal
