Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with suppliers and customers on product designs for the 3D metal Additive Manufacturing processes.
• Lead manufacturing feasibility studies on new AM applications.
• Research and resolve material, process, and part issues such as defect structure and porosity issues.
• Improve material properties such as fatigue resistance and porosity.
• Assist customers in designing products optimized for additive manufacturing.
• Apply machine vision, machine learning and other computational tools in the AM process.
• Assist with training internal employees on the applications of additive manufacturing.
• Explore and evaluate a wide variety of AM materials.
• Assist in operating the AM machine and processes.
• Work closely with quotations personnel to provide technical assistance.
• Ensure all engineering documentation for each job is completed properly.   

Qualifications:

• Bachelor Degree in Mechanical or Material Science Engineering.
• Experience with Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS) is preferred.
• Must have experience in CAD, solid modeling software, and additive manufacturing.
• Knowledgeable in 3-D metals printing process, such as microstructure control, porosity, powder spreading, and melt pool geometry.
• Knowledgeable in 3-D part inspection and qualification process, machine learning and computer vision, and nondestructive evaluation.
• Knowledgeable in geometric design and optimization.
• Knowledge and understanding of machine shop capabilities and inspection equipment preferred.
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical processes.
• Able to work and communicate well with coworkers and customers at a professional level.
• Ability to work an adjusted schedule to support customer requirements.
