Job Description
AECOM seeks a Senior Project Manager in Water Resources/GIS to join our Flood Risk Solutions team. This role will focus on managing work associated with North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) Project ATLAS and expanding AECOM’s portfolio by winning similar work with other state agencies. This role is also expected to provide project management support for other GIS projects and assist with additional business development activities focused on state and local municipal clients building on, preferably, existing relationships.
The ideal candidate will be a project management professional with broad expertise in GIS and remote sensing, technical knowledge of ATLAS project, ability to lead and manage a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, GIS staff, and sub-consultants, while also providing active support to business pursuits with National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
Candidate will demonstrate the ability to:
- Manage a portfolio of multiple projects, with successful project execution and positive client feedback
- Lead and mentor project managers within the Flood Risk Solutions group, as well as collaborate and develop and maintain relationships with other AECOM business lines and departments
- Support business development and marketing efforts for proposals and presentations
- Provide oversight and direction for all phases of project work, ensuring adherence to the company’s Quality Assurance program
- Build and maintain relationships with key officials of client agencies and organizations
- Exercise decision-making authority in recognizing risk and uncertainty, with plans to mitigate and eliminate such risks
- Direct staff to minimize exposure to claims and ensure projects are completed without significant issues
- Communicate effectively with clients and project teams, including public agencies
- Facilitate team communication, coordination, and collaboration to support assigned projects
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- BA/BS Degree and 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 2 years of leadership.
- 8 years of project management experience and experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams.
Preferred requirements
- NCDOT Project ATLAS knowledge
- Extensive experience working with NC state agencies and local agencies/entities
- 10 years of relevant experience
