Production Supervisor, Raptor

PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR, RAPTOR

SpaceX is seeking an organized, creative, and driven supervisor to spearhead the manufacturing of avionics electromechanical assemblies. As a Production Supervisor, you will directly manage a group of technicians while working closely with cross functional teams to achieve the common goal of safely manufacturing quality parts, in the most efficient methods possible, to allow for a reliable and timely integration of launch vehicles and spacecrafts needed to fulfill our extensive manifest.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Enforce area standards and run rules, prioritizing safety and quality
• Effectively manage, coach, and mentor technicians, including writing bi-annual reviews and managing corrective or disciplinary actions
• Advance area safety, quality and production efficiency through continuous improvement projects and regular audits
• Identify training needs with the team and develop training programs so that the team continually grows in technical proficiency, and monitor labor hours, utilization, overtime, and attendance to implement improvement plans where necessary.
• Interface with area leadership and prioritize work based on production schedule and organizational goals
• Proactively identify schedule risk, plan mitigation and coordinate efforts to minimize production interruptions
• Review drawings and technical data packages for manufacturability while providing constructive feedback to engineering/design community
• Review work instructions for inconsistencies & ensure consistent formatting, styling and specification references that align with other products supported by the shop
• Ensure preventive maintenance is completed on time, tools are calibrated and maintain a clean work environment by implementing a regular 5S program
• Support the business with critical development and production needs, including cross-site travel.
• Provide required data and reporting to support departmental metrics and improvement objectives.
• Accomplish production results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising job results.
• Develop and implement cost reductions processes and efficiency improvement measures.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree or 3+ years of professional experience in a manufacturing/testing environment
• 1+ years of experience leading a team or project

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Experience working in avionics and/or electro-mechanical manufacturing environment
• Associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree in engineering disciplines
• 3+ years prior leadership experience leading teams, projects and/or people
• Demonstrated data-driven decision-making ability
• Experience with controlled documentation and processes such as: cable harnesses, wiring diagrams, layout drawings, mechanical drawings, GD&T, assembly procedures, work instructions, schematics, engineering drawings, and parts lists
• Experience in fast-paced production environment with flight quality hardware
• Experience applying Lean Manufacturing, Six-Sigma, Kaizen and 5S techniques to the manufacturing floor
• Proficient experience utilizing MS Office, shop floor management software (ERP) and related programs
• Experience bringing teams and processes from development to production. 
• Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with engineering and production.
• Ability to adapt to constant changing work assignments and a fast-paced work environment.
• Excellent concentration and attention to detail with outstanding work efficiency and accuracy.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be open to work all shifts, extended hours and/or weekends as needed
• Able to distinguish colors
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time
• Must be able to lift 25 lbs. unassisted
• Repetitive assembly operations, grasping, standing, lifting, bending, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying are generally required to perform the functions of this position
• Must be willing to adjust hours on short notice.
• Must be able to travel short and/or extended trips as needed (up to 10%).
• Ability to pass Air Force background checks for Cape Canaveral and Vandenberg.
