Portfolio & Strategic Planning MBA Intern, PlayStation Studios

Sony PlayStation Studios – home for our renowned development studios including Naughty Dog, SIE Santa Monica and Insomniac Games who brought into life games such as God of War and The Last of Us – is seeking an Intern for the Portfolio & Strategy team at our San Mateo, CA location. The Portfolio and Strategy team is tasked with both long term content portfolio plans as well as PlayStation Studios' long-term strategy. This internship will be filled as either a Portfolio Strategy intern or Strategic Planning intern – two complimentary parts of the same team.

As a Portfolio Strategy Intern, you will be instrumental in delivering the high quality, exciting portfolio of games for which PlayStation is known. You will help provide industry insights, track trends, report on changing player behaviors and emerging new designs to assist our internal teams understand the constantly evolving gaming landscape.

As a Strategic Planning MBA Intern, you have the unique opportunity to work on long-term strategic projects that help set the future of PlayStation Studios. You will work with the team to help strengthen our products and business strategies with valuable analysis, data, and insights. This work could take form of either a deep analysis of a specific topic or a broad analysis of the industry.

Strategic Planning MBA Intern

Responsibilities:

• Support key strategic decisions through analysis and presentation development
• Develop, coordinate and implement plans crafted to increase existing business and pursue new opportunities through M&A or internal development
• Perform research to identify new business opportunities to support PlayStation Studios' business expansion into new areas and assess existing lines of business
• Brainstorm and evaluate opportunities across the industry, performing a broad range of quantitative and qualitative analyses
• Bring your own ideas to develop!

Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in an accredited university, pursuing an MBA degree
• Projected to graduate by Spring 2024
• Strong data analysis and financial modeling skills and proficiency in Excel / PowerPoint
• Ability to navigate through ambiguity to steer his / her own work product and network within the company
• Investigate, discover, and comprehend large data sets to tackle a sophisticated problem and convert them into a simple presentable solution with a clear messaging
• Highly motivated with outstanding verbal and written communication skills and be able to work with others at all levels and functions
• Ability to lead multiple projects, working through uncertainty under various time constraints
• Attention to detail, organization skills, and strong work ethic and ability to handle confidentiality
• A clear passion for content, media, entertainment, technology and / or gaming

Portfolio Strategy MBA Intern

Responsibilities:

• Prepare comprehensive content analyses, assessing a game’s merits across a variety of perspectives (game design, mechanics, balance, art, game economy, audience, etc.)
• Build a report into a specific genre or industry trend via infographics, visuals, and research

Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in an accredited university, pursuing an MBA degree
• Projected to graduate by Spring 2024
• We are looking for someone with a strong passion for interactive entertainment and a deep understanding of gameplay systems and mechanics. Rich experience across gaming platforms is ideal.
• Candidates are required to view games from a creative and analytical viewpoint
• Solid understanding of business models and content analysis associated with F2P, AAA and GaaS
• Game design, game-related writing and/or production
