Job Posting Description

The Facilities Engineering department at Boston Children’s Hospital is responsible for managing the hospital’s assets, systems, and infrastructure. We rely on various software systems as management tools. In this position, you will act as the primary software administrator for our most essential software system, IBM’s Maximo.

The Application Support Specialist II will be responsible to:

  • Act as the principal departmental resource relating to the daily operations of the department’s computer system applications
  • Facilitate and implement system additions and modifications. Monitor error reports and resolve or coordinate resolution of malfunctions.  Monitor and maintain systems security and provide training to users.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and evaluation studies for projects and serve as project manager for department significant projects and upgrades
  • Help to support the development of planning activities and provides technical support in data gathering and analysis. Collect and retrieve data and tabulates quantitative statistics from system databases.
  • Suggest system improvements to improve department workflows and productivity
  • Arrange for service of system hardware and other devices as required. Troubleshoot system software problems and user difficulties
  • Act as a resource to support staff and managers to department managers in resolving application issues
  • Work closely with Engineering Management to design, develop, and deliver management reports
To qualify, you must have:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field and 1 – 3 yrs of experience is required 
  • Knowledge of and experience working with an Electronic Asset Management (EAM) system (IBM Maximo experience) strongly preferred
  • Analytical skills to resolve problems requiring the use of technical principles
  • Ability to build queries to extract data; data analysis skills. Knowledge of relational databases, design, and structures. Working knowledge of SQL queries is preferred
  • Strong Excel skills and knowledge of reporting tools
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Hybrid/remote on site 3 - 5 times a month, as needed.
