Maintenance Technician

About the role

Perform corrective, planned, emergency, and custodial maintenance activities as it relates to maintaining buildings, grounds, and equipment.

Working Hours:

Mon-Fri 7a-4p with a 1-hour lunch period 

Some flexibility may exist to adjust start time based on class schedule if a current student.

Will be required to be flexible to provide support for other hourly staff during their scheduled time off, during emergencies, and with all snow events.

Major Responsibilities:


• Perform corrective, planned, and emergency maintenance activities as requested
• Respond to heating, ventilating, cooling, refrigeration unit, ice machine, chillers, boilers, pumps, electrical controls, air handling units/rooftop units, and exhaust fan issues

• Perform filter and belt changes
• Electrical issues including lights and light lenses, ballasts, switches, outlets, and circuit breakers

• Plumbing  issues to include toilets, sinks, supply lines and drains
• Wall, flooring, ceiling, and cabinet repairs including painting and drywall

• Receive, pick up and/or deliver supplies as requested
• Groundskeeping tasks including mowing, mulching, weeding, trimming, raking, and any other tasks as assigned
• Operate power, hand tools, and HVAC testing equipment
• Assist with maintenance of interior & exterior storm drains and outfalls
• Repair and move furniture as requested
• Assist with maintenance of overhead doors
• Perform maintenance on college vehicles and equipment

• Prepare and maintain records, reports, logs, statistics and files as required
• Conduct daily building checks on computerized Building Management Systems
• Back up other maintenance techs in their capacity
• Submit and complete work orders electronically in a timely fashion
•Keep tool inventory up to date

Minimum Qualifications:

• A High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Two or more years’ experience in a maintenance capacity
• Ability to operate college vehicles, fork truck, and snowplows
• Valid drivers’ license
• Ability to exercise important human relations skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with college constituents

Other Requirements:

Physical Conditions: Walking, jumping, running, balancing, climbing, crawling, standing, turning, crouching, kneeling, sitting, stooping, reaching, lifting, throwing, pushing, or pulling up to 80 lbs. Distinction of colors, visual depth perception, and hearing
