JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Opportunity 

This position works out of our Abbott Park location (AP14). As the Senior Manager – Global Procurement, you'll have the chance to lead global sourcing and procurement activities for IT Infrastructure categories Hardware, Network Equipment and Services, Mobile/Voice Solutions and Telecom. This role will be responsible for developing and executing procurement strategies that deliver value, ensure compliance, and support the company’s global IT operations. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in IT sourcing and strong negotiation skills. The role will partner with business stakeholders to define and implement category strategy and drive "One Abbott Procurement" vision and priorities. This role reports to the Senior Director – Global Procurement.

What You'll Work On 

• Primary point of contact for category needs. Nurture stakeholder relationships by serving as a business partner, helping identify critical business requirements and providing sourcing and procurement services that meet expectations.
• Influence business strategy and translate business strategy into aligned category strategy, programs and projects.
• Proactively identify areas of opportunity for new business opportunities, process improvement, and cost efficiencies.
• Provides insight to how to best develop and leverage supplier capabilities to meet business needs.
• Ensure optimal balance between value for money and cost savings is achieved, while ensuring quality and excellent customer service. Monitor market dynamics for category across regions.
• Own and implement agreed purchasing strategies for the category. Foster a collaborative environment among stakeholders.
• Ability to assess the overall needs of select business units and negotiate an accepted portfolio meeting the most strategic needs of the category.
• Drives Total Cost of Ownership reductions for category through analytics.
• Measure and track performance of the category. Drive the business to achieve best in class performance.
• Partner and collaborate with procurement staff to support cross divisional business initiatives.  
• Lead initiatives that span virtual teams across the world and cross cultures.
• Mentor, train and develop talent as a leader within procurement.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Information Technology, or related field
• 8+ year in Strategic Sourcing and Procurement, with a focus in IT procurement space
• Experience developing and implementing category strategy leading to year-over-year KPI improvement (for example cost savings, diversity spend, etc.).
• Experience managing and engaging with senior stakeholders cultivating a win-win relationship
• Familiarity with procurement systems (e.g., SAP Ariba, Coupa) and data analytics tools.
• Strong influence and negotiating skills
• Strong contracting skills
• Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, matrixed, and multicultural environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Masters degree preferred. Relevant certification desirable (e.g., CPSM, CPM, PMP)
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
• Good organizational skills, including program/project management governance
• Global experience and knowledge of global markets
• Relevant business process knowledge, as related to procurement and category management.
• Extensive knowledge of category technologies and products.
• Experience leading teams - both with direct staff and indirect project teams.
