Description

Lutheran Social Services of the National Capital Area (LSSNCA) accompanies those in need to foster resiliency, self-sufficiency, and access to opportunities by creating, connecting with, and engaging welcoming communities. Together, and with the help of partners and volunteers, we work to promote welcoming and compassionate communities.


The Resource Center serves a critical and integral role in providing an organized space for program participants across all agency programs to procure necessary basic needs items and services, as well as a drop-off site for receiving, tracking, and organizing all in-kind donations from various community partners across the DMV region.


The LSSNCA Resource Center and Store Experience Associate is responsible for assisting the Resource Center Manager in the oversight of operational elements related to client, volunteer, and donor experiences through the Resource Center and its retail space. The Resource Center and Store Experience Associate will assist with lobby oversight, client support request, appointment scheduling, receive incoming donations, volunteer oversight, support as needed in retail space, and the reporting of sales, donations, and client services provided.


Essential Functions

•    Provides excellent customer service to clients, volunteers, donors, community members, and agency staff.
•    Assists with retail space, sales, and customers. 
•    Collaborates with Resource Center Manager on volunteer tasking priorities or space related needs and tasks.
•    Supervises on-site and event volunteerism and ensures clear outlining, instructions, and communication on tasking.
•    Inspects and manages physical condition of warehouse, equipment, utilization of building storage amenities and reports any safety concerns to management.
•    Maintains an overall clean environment for clients and volunteers.
•    Assists with opening/closing and monitoring the building for events or standard hours of operation.
•    Develops and sustains community relations and partnerships.
•    Oversees the tracking and reporting of incoming in-kind donations, volunteer hours, sales, and services provided.
•    Assists with in-kind donor acknowledgment process to ensure timely and sufficient gratitude is expressed, and the proper tax paperwork is provided. 
•    Oversees front lobby reception desk, monitors incoming calls, and greets guests.
•    Supports the delivery of basic needs supplies to clients as well as donation pick-ups and drop offs.
•    Assists with donation intake, events, community outreach, and organized collection drives.
•    Other duties as assigned.
 

Qualifications

•    High-school diploma required,
•    At least three years of experience in customer service and one year of experience in retail related positions,
•    Leadership, volunteerism, and client care coordination experience 
•    Strong operational skills and understanding of safety,
•    Flexible and adaptable working style; ability to perform well in an entrepreneurial environment and self-manage projects to completion,
•    Strong project management skills and ability to collaborate with others,
•    Highly organized and rigorous attention to detail,
•    Ability to multi-task and effectively manage time and deadlines,
•    Exceptional writing and verbal communications skills,
•    Ability to build and strengthen relationships authentically and quickly,
•    Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills,
•    Knowledge of MS Office Suite is required,
•    Demonstrated enthusiasm for LSSNCA’s mission,
•    Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information,


Preferred Skills
•    Bilingual in Spanish or Dari
